Detective Kang’s fate is teased in the opening moments of “The Escape of The Seven” episode 8. On Jeju Island, Cheol-woo and Ji-man go out for drinks to learn more about Detective Kang’s predicament. He looks into who authorized Lee Hwi-so to be falsely accused of murder. Ji-man shows a stunning video of Ju-ran admitting she was Chairman Bang’s mistress and threatens serious repercussions.
As soon as Kang Ki-tak learns of Detective Kang’s passing, he immediately makes his way to Mathew Lee’s house. They assume it’s a result of Cheol-woo being provoked over the fake evidence. They follow their suspicions to Ji-man, who had visited the island.
Ji-man, according to Mathew Lee, is only a pawn in a larger scheme that involves someone more sophisticated. He promises to use their combined knowledge to find the mastermind.
In a separate storyline, La-hui receives word of her expulsion via Mo-ne’s assistants. They beg Mo-ne to get La-hui to cancel the eviction.
Mo-ne remembers that La-hui employed her because she was willing to twist the facts to further her goals. Ji-man unexpectedly contacts Mo-ne with shocking news.
La-hui discovers disturbing details about the latest island fatalities in the meanwhile. Unsettling information is revealed by Jin-mo: all of the dead were Scarlet Letter subscribers. La-hui finds it strange since they carefully curated the participation list.
La-hui may have angered a deadly opponent wanting retaliation, but Jin-mo suspects a hack and cautions La-hui.
To extort La-hui, Mo-ne uses the information that she is Da-mi’s biological mother. In a flashback, using her understanding of Ji-man and K’s secrets, Mo-ne persuaded Ji-man to look into La-hui. La-hui is cautioned by her not to look into the relationship between K and Ji-man.
Another twist involves Erica, Myoung-ji’s daughter, who wants to be a star at Cherry Entertainment and confronts Myoung-ji. Erica wishes Jin-mo were her father even if she is aware her presumed father isn’t the real deal.
Do-hyuk, in the meanwhile, raises questions about Da-mi’s real father when he provides Jin-mo with proof of Mo-ne’s covert contacts with Ji-man. He is cautioned by Jin-mo about going too far.
The story develops via the complicated and interweaving storylines of numerous individuals. Unexpected alliances emerge, and startling disclosures are made as the strain increases. Audiences are excited for the next dramatic episode after the show’s spectacular conclusion.
