The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 1: Recap
The story began with a Duke sent far away from his home by his mother as he got cursed by a witch moments after he was born. According to the curse, the duke won’t be able to love anyone or be loved by anyone as everything he will touch will wither away and eventually die. This curse kept people away from him and his mother wished that he would never return to keep her other children safe. Meanwhile, Duke started his life in the other mansion alongside his maid and childhood friend Alice and a butler.
Alice, despite being a maid, always showed compassion towards the duke and teased him at times. These small interactions with Alice eventually got Duke out of his depression and he started getting back to his normal life.
As things started to get better, One day Duke learns that his mother has decided to announce his younger brother as the heir of the family in his place, which leaves him heartbroken once again. Duke still manages to pull through this time and promises Alice that he will break his curse someday and repay her kindness.
The story then progresses forward with Duke and Alice going to various places far and wide and finding many mysterious things in their quest to find a cure for the curse but alas, they couldn’t find it.
Their adventures didn’t go in vain, though, as with every new adventure, Alice and Duke got even closer to each other and that too without them even touching each other even once. Alice confesses her feelings for the Duke during this quest and Duke also accepts his wholeheartedly as he realizes that he has also fallen in love with her.
One day, Duke’s mother invites him for a meeting which makes Duke anxious as he wonders what her reasons are. Upon reaching his home, Duke gets welcomed by his brother Walter and Sister Viola tell Duke about how they are jealous of him as he gets to stay away from their mother.
Duke’s mother gives him a time limit till spring to cure his curse, and Duke also announces that he is going to marry Alice, to which his mother refrains from responding. After a dinner filled with arguments, Duke departs to his mansion, which he refers to as “Our mansion” while talking to Alice.

In The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 Episode 1, we are going to see Alice and the Duke going back to their mansion to once again find a cure for the Duke’s curse. Duke has been given a time limit till next spring by his mother to free himself of the curse or she’ll choose Walter as the family heir.
Alice acts in her usual flirty way but deep inside she’s worried about how things will go. In the first episode, we will also see a confession from Alice while the Duke will be asleep and the duo will experience even more comedic situations like meeting ghosts and fantasy creatures so rest assured, the anime will still be how you know it!
