The Day is a new Korean drama that gives a refreshing dose of entertainment with its bits of comedy and suspense. It is famous for its alternate titles, The Kidnapping Day and The Day of Kidnapping. The drama premiered on September 13, 2023, and has already impressed the audience with its gripping plot.
The story of the drama is about a man named Kim Myung Joon. He is a man with a kind heart and an even better father with a desperate need to arrange money for the treatment of his ailing daughter. His ex-wife proposes a plan that is opposite to his nature, but he is ready to cross all the limits for his daughter.
The idea is to kidnap a rich girl, Choi Ro Hee, and ask for ransom from her rich parents. On his way to kidnap the little girl, Myung Joon meets with an accident, and the victim is none other than Ro Hee, who loses her memory. Myung Joon takes her along, pretending to be her father, and tries to contact her family.
His plans go in vain as he gets no response. When he arrives at their house to find out why, they see Ro Hee’s parents’ dead bodies being taken away, which certainly came out of the blue. Adding to the trouble, Ro Hee knows that he is not her father.
The Day Story So Far
By now, two episodes have been released where a lot has happened swiftly. Myung Joon finds out about the death of Ro Hee’s parents and tries to get rid of the kidnapping evidence. He burns the car and the phone along with it. Police started investigating the death case to find out that their daughter was missing, and now they aim to find Ro Hee.
Detective Park Sang Yoon and his team find a laboratory and Operation Theatre inside the house, which raises eyebrows. Ro Hee was being taken away by a man, but Myung Joon managed to save her. When he decides to surrender and hand over Ro Hee to the police, he finds out that the medical expenses of his daughter have been cleared, so he decides to hold back till her surgery.
During the investigation, the phone that Myung Joon destroyed was found with a sim card intact, and he is also seen in a CCTV Footage. Meanwhile, Myung Joon takes Ro Hee out for some food when she faints, so he rushes her to the hospital. The doctors suspect bruises on her hands from abuse and call the police. Ro Hee escapes with Myung Joon and questions him about his reality.
