The man just wants to reunite with his disciples and is doing things for leisure and making a name for himself. The last part makes people with high self-esteem aware of their shortcomings, making them resort to violence.
The assassin is the very result of it, and he has been introduced as someone that nobody feels empathy for. Though, the question remains of how long it will take for the former martial art god to defeat a thug like him. Or, it can also work as a means for Joohyuk to check his level by facing the such foe.
