‘The Call’ is one of the most popular South Korean movies out there. The internet out there is always in haul about the same, and the climax of the movie has got everyone curious for a long time now. Directed and written by Lee Chung Hyun, ‘The Call’ premiered on November 27, 2020, on Netflix. The movie scored an approval rating of 100% and an average rating of 7.1/10 on the review aggregation website called Rotten Tomatoes. It would be right to say that the film was very successful in both the domestic and global range.

‘The Call’: What Happened in The End?
As the story of ‘The Call’ begins to unfold, we see Young Sook digging through the accident that led to the death of Seo Yeon’s father. Returning the favor, Seo Yeon warns her about her death at the hands of her mother. When both of these past events are undone, the situation takes a 360-degree turn. Hell breaks free as we see Young Sook going completely enraged and becoming a mass murderer.
After the incident, Young Sook figures out that she has been put into life imprisonment for killing two people. To dig inside the same, she begins to blackmail Seo Yeon and asks her to find out the events that led to her arrest. When Seo Yeon refuses, Young Sook tastes blood and kills the former’s father in the past, and kidnaps her younger version.
As the climax of the movie approaches, we see Seo Yeon from the future working closely with her mother in the past. They kill Young Sook, or so we are told. The finale of ‘The Call’ brings up the mourning phase of Seo Yeon over her mother’s death. However, we get goosebumps when her mother visits her while she is crying in front of her gravestone.
Next, we see a happy Seo Yeon walking out of the cemetery, and hence we assume that her mother managed to survive the fall. On the other hand, it was also possible that Seo Yeon managed to save her mother and ended up in the present day in order to experience that particular moment with her mother. However, it was not as simple as it looked.
In the next scene, we saw Young Sook from the future contacting her past self and warning her about all the events that were happening. Explaining the same, she urges Young Sook to hold on to the phone no matter what happens. We watch a bloody Young Sook lying cold in the pool of her own blood. But the table flips when she opens her eyes, hinting that she is alive.

‘The Call’: All About Its Plot and Cast
‘The Call’ narrates the story of a woman named Seo Yeon who returns back home after a long time. After connecting an old phone that was in the house, she speaks to a stranger named Yeong Sook, and that’s when the thing starts to get strange. Seo Yeon realizes after a while that Yeong Sook lives in the same house, but they are 20 years apart. The strangest thing about this entire aspect is that they both end up becoming friends. Situations take lots of twists and turns, and one day Seo Yeon and Yeong Sook had to make a small choice that ended up changing their lives in the time they were in.
Coming to the cast of the movie then, they are one of the most popular faces of the South Korean entertainment industry. Park Shin Hye plays the role of Kim Seo Yeon, Jeon Jong Seo portrays the character of Oh Yeong Sook, Kim Sung Ryung plays the role of Eun Ae, Lee El seen as Sunwoo Ja Ok, Park Ho San portrays Mr. Kim, and Oh Jung Se was seen as Park Sung Ho.
Among them, Jeon Jong Seo won the ‘Best Actress – Film’ at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards and ‘Best New Actress’ at 20th Director’s Cut Awards. All of them did a wonderful job in bringing out the best of their respective characters and adding the needed essence to the plot of the film.
