The month of April 2023 saw much great manga series like Ancient Magnus Bride, Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu and many others getting anime adaptations. The Blue Orchestra is going to be yet another addition to this month adapted from an award-winning manga of the same name. The Blue Orchestra is a slice-of-life anime with a musical touch. It explores the story of a Violinist Prodigy, Hajime Aono and his sorrow-filled past. Hajime Aono was once regarded as one of the greatest violinists but one day he started hating violin after his father passed away. Months after the incident, Aono listens to a distinct melody in his school and thinks he has gone insane but he gets proven wrong when his teacher confirms that it’s another student named Akine playing the violin in the infirmary.
Aono doesn’t pay much attention to it as he hates violin but destiny causes these two people to meet as Aono’s teacher asks him to teach Akine how to play the violin. Akine and Aono being polar opposites struggle a lot as their journey continues but they understand each other even more in the process. This is the story of a boy going from hating violin to letting go of his past and finding love in a world filled with music.
The Blue Orchestra Episode 1: Spoilers
The Blue Orchestra Episode 1 is going to explore the backstory of the male protagonist Hajime Aono and his first dramatic encounter with the female protagonist Ritsuko Akine.
Four strings, merely four strings can create a sound which could make anyone drown in the world of music. This sound was once loved by Hajime Aono but looking back on it, he hates everything about it. Aono suffers from not being athletic as he always gets hurt while playing sports which always end up in him having nosebleeds.
Aono calls his music room the “forbidden room” as he tries to stay as far away from it as possible because it reminds him of his father(a professional violinist) and the way he used to practice with him. One day, Aono attends his school like normal but his teacher asks him to join him for a career counselling session. His teacher asks him why he hasn’t chosen a college yet and Aono replies that he wants a college where no one would recognize him.
While they conversate about Aono’s future plans, they suddenly hear the sound of the violin. Aono thinks he’s hearing things but his teacher sighs that it’s the girl named Akine again. Aono tries to get more information about her but his teacher leaves the room asking him that didn’t he lose interest in the violin. Aono tries to forget about it and gets lost in thoughts during his basketball session and gets hurt again.
Aono gets taken to the infirmary for first aid where he finally meets Akine who snuck into the room to play some violin. Akine considers Aono a pervert at first looking at his nose bleed which makes Aono angry and they argue over it until their teacher stops them. Aono’s teacher asks Aono to teach Akine how to play the violin and he will overlook Aono’s poor PE attendance basically forcing both of them to bond with each other and so begins this love-hate relationship.
