The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline will launch on September 10 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version set to arrive later this year. Developed by Italian studio ONE O ONE GAMES and published by Spain-based Entalto Publishing, the first-person psychological mystery thriller takes inspiration from Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy while giving its ideas a modern and introspective interpretation.

The game follows Gabriele Alighieri, a man forced to return to his ancestral home to perform a ritual that could protect his family from an approaching infernal threat. Every 33 years, the barrier separating the human world from Hell weakens, leaving Gabriele to confront a destiny he has spent his life trying to escape.

A Steam demo is already available, giving players an early look at the game’s tense atmosphere, environmental exploration and Divine Comedy-inspired puzzles. The game will launch for $19.99, with a 10% discount during its first two weeks, and will support 11 languages with English and Italian voice acting.

A Modern Psychological Take on Dante’s Inferno

Rather than focusing purely on monsters and traditional horror, The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline explores fear through psychological themes. Game director Gaia Righelli explained that the team wanted to create a more personal form of terror.

“We decided what kind of terror we wanted to portray: not the fear of dying, but the fear of being seen,”

Righelli said.

“Because sometimes the most terrifying thing is someone or something that understands you completely.”

Creative director Emanuele Miccianza said the team viewed Dante’s original work as a journey of the mind rather than a conventional action story.

“When most people think of Dante or Dante’s Inferno, they imagine something very concrete: monsters, demons, action,”

he said.

“But when I read the Divine Comedy, I didn’t see an action story; I saw a person going through an inner journey. That became our central idea: Hell is internal.”

Two Realities and the Search for the Infernal Seal

Players must gather magical pages from The Divine Comedy to perform the Ritual and keep the gates of Hell sealed. The experience combines esoteric puzzle-solving with environmental storytelling, hidden collectibles and diary pages that reveal the history of the Alighieri bloodline and Gabriele’s past.

The story unfolds across two converging realities. The Villa is a silent and melancholic Italian manor filled with secrets, while the Dive presents a distorted reflection of infernal depths. Players must navigate both worlds as Gabriele’s fears, trauma and fragmented memories gradually reveal the true cost of completing the Ritual.

According to the official announcement from Entalto Publishing, The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline is designed as a story-driven psychological mystery that puts its own surreal spin on one of literature’s most famous journeys through Hell.
