Ted Lasso Season 4 has delivered a record-breaking return for Apple TV, with its premiere generating 296.6 million minutes watched across August 4 and 5. The Nielsen-measured figure makes the fourth-season debut the biggest launch in Apple TV history, surpassing previous Ted Lasso seasons as well as high-profile Apple TV series such as Severance and Pluribus.

The premiere was also the most-streamed program in the United States on August 5, recording more than 200 million minutes that day alone. Using its 42-minute runtime, Nielsen’s viewing total translates to approximately 7.1 million views, providing another indication of the show’s strong comeback nearly three years after its previous season concluded.

Season 4 takes place three years after the events of Season 3, with Jason Sudeikis’ Ted returning to Richmond for another coaching challenge. This time, however, he is tasked with coaching a second-division women’s football team, opening a new chapter for the character and the broader Ted Lasso universe. Apple says the season centers on the team taking risks and embracing opportunities they previously would have avoided.

The fourth season reunites Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. New cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely. The season premiered on August 5 with new episodes arriving weekly through October 7.

The record opening reinforces Ted Lasso’s position as one of Apple TV’s most successful original series. Its latest streaming performance also gives the platform a major early-season success as the comedy begins its fourth chapter.
