Isekai anime or anime set in a different period and place are quite popular with anime fans. For the people who wish to lose themselves and escape reality for a while, such anime is perfect as the world and character building are quite intense in them.
The world setting and the subsequent building of the said world are quite essential in an anime set in a different time period. The ability of the anime to properly create and describe its world sometimes becomes the deciding factor in its popularity.
No one wishes to watch anime with confusing world-building as people can’t connect to the anime properly. There are a few isekai and anime based on different periods, however, that have managed to achieve proper world-building. One such anime happens to be Kingdom. The anime series is based on a manga under the same name and currently has four seasons.
The fifth season or the fifth adaptation of the anime is going to be released in 2024 and fans are quite excited for it. The first four seasons have been received amazingly by the fans and the plot and characters are something that has contributed greatly to its success. Fans are hoping that the fifth season will be just as good as the previous ones, if not more.
Kingdom Anime’s official teaser reveals the release date of the anime
As mentioned earlier, Kingdom is one of the best anime set in a different period. Despite having four released seasons and one season about to release, the anime hasn’t gotten boring at all.
The anime is based on a manga written by Yasuhisa Kara under the same name. The manga began in 2006 and was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga is still being serialized there.
The anime’s first season or the first adaptation occurred in 2012 when Pierrot released it. The second season was released the year after that. Both seasons were very well received by the fans. The third season was released after a seven-year-long wait in 2020.
However, unfortunately for the fans, the wait increased when the anime was put on hiatus after just four episodes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The series resumed in 2021 and the fourth adaptation was released in 2022.
It was announced earlier that the fifth adaptation will be released in 2024. Kingdom anime’s official website as well as their official YouTube channel released a teaser for the adaptation.
The teaser shows some snippets of the fifth season and its plot. In addition to that, the release date for the anime was also revealed to be January 6, 2024. Fans are extremely excited about the release.
The cast members will remain the same for the precious characters, but new cast members have been added for the new characters.
Kingdom is set in the year 500 which is the period of the warring states. Kingdom follows the story of a young boy named Shin who aims to become the greatest general of heaven.
Shin along with his friend, Hyou were both born poor and wished to become stronger in order to escape their lives. One day, Hyou gets taken to the palace and returns after some time in a near-dead state. He asks Shin to go to another place before he dies.
After visiting the place Hyou asked him to, Shin encounters a boy named Ei Sei who is the king of Qin and looks identical to his friend. Upon investigating, Shin finds out that his friend was a body double for the king and died because of that.
Instead of taking revenge, Shin quells his rage and decides to help Ei Sei to take the throne from his half-brother. Shin succeeds in helping him in taking the throne and making Ei Sei the king.
After that, the two team up in order to unify the central plains. Ei Sei dreams of the unified plains which would put an end to the suffering of the people and wars between various provinces once and for all. Shin decides to help him in this and the anime and the manga follow their journey.
The anime is in its fifth season and so far it has received positive comments fans are extremely excited for the upcoming season and wish to see Shin’s journey.
