Taxi Driver Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
The next scene takes place inside a prison, where Inmate 5283, is seen working out when he is called by the guards to be taken to the court for appeal. He is accompanied by three inmates who were charged with pornographic distribution. On his way, while walking on the prison corridor with other inmates, he notices one of the inmates passing some notes to each other.
In the bus, the three other inmates discuss the note one of them received which has a subway locker number and code written on it, where there is cash for 2 years’ worth of subscriptions.
Suddenly, inmate 5283 asks them to fasten their seat belts as he sees a danger zone approaching. As soon as he says it, the bus topples and crashes. Inmate 5283 unlocks his handcuffs and asks the three to get out of the bus. As soon as the three get down from the bus, 5283 comes there driving a taxi and asks them to get inside.
Next, the three inmates are seen to be waking up at a dingy place, after being drugged by inmate 5283, where they watch the news, which says that the three assaulted the guards on the bus, took their weapons, and escaped. They deny the news and say that they did not take anything when one of them finds a gun in his pocket, and they all freak out. The next moment, they are shown on the news as they have been put on the wanted list by the police and if caught, they will be put on a life sentence.
Hearing this, they plan on calling the police, but the phone they have is locked. At the same time, they hear the S.W.A.T. team approaching their hideout on the news. In a matter of seconds, the SWAT team breaks into the room and arrests them. As they come out of the building, we see the four (Kim Do Gi, Ahn Go Eun, Choi Kyung Goo, and Park Jin Eon) standing on another building’s rooftop and watching them. Therefore, we get to know that all were their planning.
When Kung Goo says that he does not like the idea of the three inmates relaxing in the jail, Kim says that they won’t be relaxing as the person who gave the note of subscription to them would be pretty enraged when he will get to know of their arrest. On the other hand, Go Eun says that the subscription money has already been collected by Mr. Jang.
After this incident, the episode takes us to a flashback to 2 years ago, when the five Rainbow Taxi members are gathered and talking about returning to their old jobs. Eun says that she will be taking the civil service exam and Kim will travel for a while. In intercut scenes, the police are seen approaching their den. When the police arrive, they find no one except Mr. Jang working in his office alone. On being asked about others’ whereabouts, Mr. Jang says that he did everything by himself and gets arrested.
Then the episode takes us to one year ago when Kim is seen driving a taxi to its stand, where Mr. Jang is seen working on a taxi repair. A man asks him to get new workers when Mr. Jang cuts himself while working. Then Kim arrives and they have a conversation where Mr. Jang tells him that he does not want them to get back to this business as they all are doing fine on their own. He only kept Kim to himself as if he had let him go, then Kim would do the same thing (bringing justice by involving himself in dangerous activities) on his own. So Mr. Jang decided to help him.
On the other side, Jin Eon is seen addressing the Korean Aerospace laboratory press conference.
Choi Kyung Goo is seen to be working at a car manufacturing center. Eon comes to meet him and they sit at a restaurant and talk about Mr. Jang’s misbehaviour. But they still decide to meet Mr. Jang.
At the police station, Eun, now a police officer, is eager to help a man who lost his son one year ago. Her captain asks her to follow protocols otherwise they all convert into law offenders.
Later, at night, Mr. Jang is seen sticking posters about the Deluxe Taxi service – don’t die, get revenge. We will do it for you – in a bathroom.
On the other side, the man who lost his son is seen attempting suicide by trying to jump off a bridge, when he sees the poster of Deluxe taxi services and calls them.
Next, Kim is seen to get an alert about it from Mr. Jang. He picks up the man, now his client, in his taxi and asks him his story.
The man narrates his story about his son, Dong Jae, who went to Vietnam by lying to him that he was going as an exchange student to study. Instead, he got caught up in a gambling business. After a rigorous search by himself as the police weren’t helping much, Dong Jae’s father could not find him. Meanwhile, one day he receives a suicide letter from Dong Jae in his letterbox.
Meanwhile, we see Kim telling Mr. Jang that Dong Jae might not have written the letter willingly as there is a morse code written at the bottom of the letter. As Dong Jae worked as an operations soldier in the military, he knew how to write morse code. Kim and Mr. Jang decipher it. It reads ‘save me.’
On the other side, a flashback is shown. Dong Jae is seen to be brutally beaten up by a few thugs at a dingy place. When he sees a phone, Dong Jae calls his father but was not able to talk as other men found him out. Next Dong Jae is seen writing the morse code. On the other side, the method of Rainbow Taxi driver services is shown, as how Dong Jae’s father approached them.
Back to Kim and Mr. Jang, Kim decides to write back to Dong Jae. Kim further says that he has applied for the same job as Dong Jae, and says that he will go abroad alone. Mr. Jang says that it will be difficult to carry the operation out of Korea but they don’t have a choice.
On the other side, a severely bruised Dong Jae is seen being hanged upside down in a dingy kitchen.
Kim leaves for Vietnam. On the other side, Eon and Kyung Goo come to Mr. Jang’s office where they find the missing poster of Dong Jae and figure out that he is doing an operation. They meet Mr. Jang at their den but he tells them to get out.
Kim arrives in Vietnam. He gets on to the van offered by the company and carries out his operation in disguise while being in constant coordination with Mr. Jang in Korea.
In Korea, Eun is seen illegally extracting information from her system at the police station about Dong Jae’s international departure.
Kim is taken to the countryside along with other new employees of the company. In the middle of the road, Kim along with other employees is kidnapped and taken to a dingy place where Dong Jae was seen before. The boss asks them questions, on not answering them, Kim and the others are beaten by hanging them upside down. Then they are ordered to make illegal gambling game programs for the boss.
Meanwhile, Kim loses connection with Mr. Jang in the process. At the end of the episode, a new character is introduced who is looking for revenge on a man.
