Network 10’s Australian adaptation of Taskmaster will soon air an all-new episode filled with many more comedic tasks. Inspired by its UK counterpart, the show consists of various comedians performing tasks given by the Taskmaster. In the case of Australia, the Taskmaster is Tom Gleeson, along with Tom Cashman. The show has been airing since February 2nd, 2023.
It was announced to be in the making way back in October 2022. Filming for this version took place in December 2022 in the same place as the NZ adaptation of Taskmaster. The tasks for the show are said to be scripted by Sam Smith and Tom Cashman. To make sure that there are no repeated or similar tasks, Taskmaster will have different writers each season.
Up until now, the show has featured tasks like bringing in things the contestants consider beautiful, creating short montages of their life, and many more such simple yet humorous challenges that the comedians almost always manage to complete most uniquely. At present, Danielle is at the top of the scoreboard with 32 points in total.
Taskmaster Australia Episode 3: Recap
In the previous episodes of Taskmaster Australia, we see the contestants and Toms discussing their first challenge of the episode. It was to bring something satisfying to touch. The winner of the day would be allowed to touch these objects.
Jimmy brings kinetic sand, while Luke just brings a hand with a Union valley spot on it. Nina gets a textured mold object, and Danielle gets a touch-sensitive weed that she used to play with while out on the ground. Julia gets a towel. The next challenge soon begins.
Back at the house, the contestants are told to find a cat from hundreds of bags put on the ground for the second task. The one to find it the quickest without opening many bags would win the challenge. Luke tries to open a few but soon realizes that they spell something.
He gets an upper view and sees an arrow pointing toward the bag with the cat. Julia is unable to notice the spelling or arrow and opens almost all bags before finding the cat. Jimmy starts to play a game of Hot and Cold to figure out the location of the bag.
Nina tries to get a peek inside the bag and finds the cat in the pile of bags. Danielle can quickly find the cat by figuring out the placement of bags early on. She comes in first since she opens only 1 bag with the cat. The person to come last place is Julia since she opens around 71 bags before finding the correct one.
The next task was to call someone and make them hang up quickly without them suspecting that you wanted them to hang up. Nina calls someone and pretends to walk away, and the call ends soon. Jimmy tries to make it look like he’s in the toilet or sleeping, but the call ends after a few minutes. Julia calls her agent, who hangs up pretty quickly.
As for Luke, he calls his parents, but they keep talking about all kinds of things. Danielle calls her grandma and makes weird noises, but scared that she may cause them concern, she informs them about the call, causing her to get disqualified.
The winner of this challenge turns out to be Julia Morris. For the next challenge, the contestants are said to do the bravest thing. They can use a bundle of paper. Luke wraps the paper around his head while Danielle makes a shield and sword to fight the terrifying geese outside.
Nina interprets vulnerability as being brave and talks about her heartbreak. Jimmy faces his fears of poking his eye on an Umbrella spoke. He asks Tom to help him get over his fear. Julia types down her political opinions on a sheet of paper. Luke is declared the winner of this challenge.
The next and final challenge involves using gloves and picking out the pineapples from a pizza, and later asking Tom for a new one in Italian. The pineapples they remove are later juiced and measured, and we see the first tie of the episode between Nina and Jimmy. After a tie-breaker challenge, Nina wins the episode.
