Superstar From Age 0 Chapter 17: Recap
Seojun watches Swalit Anom’s show, in which he explains the basic foundation of acting. Swalit says that one needs to understand the history of the character, and even though it sounds complex, it’s quite simple.
He continues by saying that one must know how the character was raised and developed up until that point. Swalit admits that it is difficult to make a lasting impression with a few characters like extras, and so it requires the actor to learn even the untold history of that particular extra.
Seojun watches this show with great concentration and wonders how one can learn the history of the characters. Seojun’s dad asks him not to get too close to the television, and Swalit ends the show by saying that all the answers are in the script and the actor needs to analyze even the smallest elements in the script to build the history of the character.
Seojun then goes to the studio with his mother, who encourages him to do his best but also feels worried because of the look on Seojun’s face.
Baron takes Seojun to meet director Ryan, and Seojun smiles after a long time of using the domain of the smiling mushroom. He looks around the set and analyses the door Melissa runs out of, the area around Director Ryan’s seat, and even where some of the staff is.
He realizes that, unlike mushrooms, people only have one face, so the range differs depending on their vision. Ryan shows Seojun the spot he’ll be sitting on for the take and explains the role.
Seojun prepares his smile as he knows that it will be the main focus, and Ryan also smiles, looking at the wicked smile of Seojun. Ryan calls to action, and Seojun remembers all the things from the script just the way Swalit said.
Melissa comes running out of the door, and Seojun smiles at her as expected, but Seojun’s smile feels so natural that Melissa and even the staff get emotional. Melissa feels as if his actual son is disappearing from the world, so she runs towards him while crying, and then Ryan calls Cut.
Seojun looks around in shock as he gets too immersed in the role that he forgets everything. Meanwhile, Ryan marvels over the amazing acting done by Seojun.
Melissa doesn’t stop crying even after the shoot because she also got too immersed in the role. Baron says that Method acting is difficult as it’s hard to get out of character. After that, Seojun asks what it means, and Baron explains everything to him.
Seojun then asks how he can do Method acting, but Baron gives the same explanation as Swalit and so Seojun cuts him off in the middle. He smiles a little while talking about Swalit, but he slaps himself as smiling would ruin his “illusion of the smiley face mushroom.”
Seojun then returns to his home and wonders how he will be able to improve his illusion of the smiley face mushroom to the highest grade.
