He says that the name of the lady in the portrait is Christina, and when Ann asks for her actual fairy name, he says, “Lealis Cil Eril.” After that, Ann surprisingly asks that if he knows her fairy name, why doesn’t he call her by her true name? He responded that he could not call her by her fairy name because she herself wanted it to be so. She wanted to be called by a humanlike name and asked him to give her one.
He adds that that was the time when she had only just been born, she gazed out idly at the wave crests from which she had been born that she would be caught by humans and hurt was lamentable, and this is why he brought her back to the castle.
