Step Brothers is an American comedy film that was released on July 25, 2008. Step Brothers is a very lighthearted comedy film where the story revolves around two immature 40-year-old adults who still live with their respective single parents. Things get a little out of hand for immature adults when their respective single parents start dating, and the two sons are forced to live as brothers under one roof. Since the movie takes place in a suburban area, the filming location had to be spot on in a way that complements the background of the characters and the plot.
Step Brothers is led by two lead actors, starting with a legend in the comedy film genre, Will Ferrell (Brennan Huff), who is also famous for appearing in movies like The Other Guys (Allen Gamble) and Kicking & Screaming (Phil Weston), and John C. Reily (Dale Doback) also known for his roles in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy (Corpsman Dey) and Gangs Of New York (Happy Jack). The other actors in the movie are Mary Steenburgen (Nancy Huff), Richard Jenkins (Dr. Robert Doback), Adam Scott, and Kathryn Hahn.

Step Brothers is a goofy comedy film that takes place in a suburban area somewhere in the USA. The locations selected in the movie are quite apt, keeping in mind the requirements of the plot and the background of the characters. The entirety of the movie was filmed in California, Los Angeles, USA. The majority of the filming was done on the west coast of California, including scenes like Nancy and Brennan driving on Van Nuys Boulevard in Panorama City, the scene where Dale and Brennan get jumped by kids in a park was filmed at VA Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center, 1611 Plummer Street, North Hills, Los Angeles.
The Doback residence and its interiors were filmed in Sony Pictures Studios, 10202 West Washington Boulevard, Culver City, Los Angeles. Brennan’s “Catalina Wine Mixer” event was filmed in the south of Los Angeles county at Trump National Golf Course, 1 Trump National Drive, Ranchos Palos Verdes, Los Angeles. Most of the suburbs visible in the film were shot in the suburbs of South Pasadena, Altadena, and Arcadia. The “World Famous RJ Posner” scenes were shot at a very famous restaurant called The Derby Restaurant, located at 233 East Huntington Drive, Arcadia, Los Angeles.
The Plot of Step Brothers
The film revolves around two 40-year-old unemployed immature adults that live with their single parents, Brennan with his mother Nancy and Dale with his father. Brennan and Dale are soon forced to live together as their respective parents decide to date each other. This creates chaos in the house as Brennan and Dale do not cooperate well together. Brennan has a rich brother Derek whom he hates a lot and soon finds out that Dale too shares the same hatred for Derek, which then becomes a common reference point between the two to cooperate together.
They decide to change their lives by starting a business together, but Dale’s father has dreams of his own that cause some tension between them. The movie offers a goofy comedic crazy ride to the audience, and the story is very well complemented by the skill of both Will Ferrell and John C. Reily.
