A government official, Hwang Dae Myung’s routine life is turned upside down when he is accused of being the infamous ‘Skunk,’ a wanted cultural asset thief who has dodged the law various times. While he is trying to save his boat, an unorthodox cultural asset recovery team by the name of ‘Karma’ approaches Skunk to team-up with him to bring other dangerous and powerful criminals down who cannot be detained easily using the law.

Minwoo is delighted to get to work with the Seoul Metropolitan Police’s cultural heritage team and learns the the job from them, about how the thieves are catgorized based on the area of specialty.
The first category is that of Goltong- the stealers of the anitiques that is the middleman buyers. After them are the deliverers known as the Dilbari who witfully deliver the stolen asset. The magicians assist in skillfully concealing the stolen treasures and the last group belongs to Goldo, specializing in the stealing of artifacts.
Minwoo also learns more about how ‘Skunk’ got his name from his signature style of leaving a rotten smell in his wake using peculiar gases and how his partner-in-crime Lee helps him from behind the screens to ensure his endeavors are successful.
In the last episode of Stealer we get more familiar with the robbery style of Skunk as the thief is shown in live action conducting a robbery with his trusty aid. The dark mask he is associated with not only helps him hide his identity but, also provides him with the data Lee sends him.
Skunk aka, Hwang Dae Myung is masterful in his art albeit a bit clumsy. Another peculiar characteristic is revealed as the cultural heritage recovery team shows Minwoo all the items stolen and delivered by Skunk. But this does not exonerate Skunk from his thievery for which he still needs to be put to justice. The captain of the team also explains how Skunk has been accused of being the killer of Chairman Yang and his men.
The story behind a file named – ‘Retrieval of Cultural Assets Illegally Owned by Those of Power,’ is conveniently skipped as the captain moves ahead.
