Umika learned that Akeuchi came to Earth with a purpose but forgot about it after she arrived on Earth in the previous episode.

But the words were not coming out of her mouth when it was her turn for the introduction. Umika’s words got stuck in her throat, and her face turned red.
She tried her best to introduce herself as politely as possible. But she was feeling hopeless because she could not laugh and talk normally like everyone else.
Most of the time, Umika felt like she was from another planet. Everyone lined up for the entrance ceremony, but Umika kept feeling like she did not belong with her classmates.
She used to read about other countries, but she decided to go and find somewhere she could belong.
Stardust Telepath Episode 1 Recap
Umika was planning to move to another planet where people could understand her feelings. According to her research, some aliens out there could communicate telepathically.
So she made up her mind to find aliens who would understand her so she could find a place where she could fit in during the entrance ceremony.
A strange girl broke into their hall and introduced herself as an alien named Yuu Akeuchi. She told everyone her ship had broken down, so she arrived late for the ceremony.
Umika was not expecting to have an early encounter with an alien, so she decided to talk to her. She even bought a dictionary to learn an alien language, but when she went to have a chat with her.
The other girls were praising Akeuchi for her grand entrance. They told her she should have picked up another joke, and Umika realized Akeuchi was not a real alien.
But Akeuchi approached her after seeing the alien dictionary in her hand and started to converse with her in an alien language.
Akeuchi told her she wanted to see her forehead, and when she touched her forehead, she could sense all of Umika’s emotions.
Akeuchi informed her that the technique she used was called foreheadpathy, which was a special alien power. She informed Umika that no one in the class believed that she was an alien.
Umika thought Akeuchi was very innocent and mysterious, yet very warm. She felt that Akeuchi was different from other humans, and she desperately wanted to become her friend.
Their encounter took her by surprise, and she was extremely happy after meeting an alien. She was wondering if Akeuchi would let her be her friend. Because her words could not reach anyone, she was not confident that Akeuchi would accept her.
