Recap of episode 8
The details are revealed during a discussion of the Senate Defense Recruiting Bill, which would replace the Clones with a new conscripted force made up of the general populace. The measure is being opposed by Senators Pamlo (voiced by Sharon Duncan-Brewster) and Organa (or Phil LaMarr), who argue that the galaxy faces more urgent problems than creating a new military.
Although Senator Chuchi (voiced by Jennifer Hale) is fighting a lost struggle since the Clones’ rapid aging process is making them obsolete, she is providing the Clones a vote in the crowded parliamentary arena. After this scene, Mas Amedda (voiced by Stephen Stanton) and Admiral Rampart are debating how quickly the law must pass to silence the political dissenters.
To meet the Clones in person, Senator Chuchi has returned to the exact 79s Cantina at the beginning of the episode. They laugh at her Pension Plan proposal, but she manages to win them by making an emotional plea for permission to talk on their behalf.
One, Slip, provides her with a record to check and a lead in pursuing along with the truth about Kamino. Rampart has been asked directly by Chuchi how he managed to survive the disaster in the homeworld of the Clones. He crafts a succession of statements that tell her exactly what she may want to hear while selling her a narrative about being off-planet during a training drill during the conversation.
Chuchi is then subtly invited to a secret discussion with Senator Organa. He makes inferences to her about the Inner and Mid-burgeoning Rim’s uprising and how lucky the Emperor is enlisting a new military purpose at a time of widespread unrest.
We see that Rampart employed a mercenary in disguise to find Chuchi and her Clone link and silence them both permanently. Chuchi meets Slip again within a factory complex. He claims that Rampart’s spacecraft contains the proof she needs, along with a duplicate of the command record stored in the database, but the assassin kills his victim before he is finished.
Chuchi runs deeper into the complex of industries. She dashes up to an elevated walkway when a stranger appears from the shadows. It turns out to be Captain Rex (or Dee Bradley Baker), who startles the assassin sneaking up behind her, just like you fear she will meet her end.
Rex brings the assailant and Chuchi to Trace & Rafa Martez’s garage, a somewhat secure location, to question him. However, the discussion is cut short when the killer, who turns out to be a fellow Clone, declares himself to be a “believer” before killing himself with a concealed weapon.
