Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 8: Starship Spoilers

Hey guys! Today we’ll talk about the newest member to join the Starfleet- a new starship! At destination Star Trek in Birmingham UK, Star Trek Deep Space Nine documentary premieres this Saturday. Showrunner Ira Steven Behr reunites with former writers of the Star Trek series to talk about Season 8.

This documentary is called ‘What We Left Behind.’ For those of you who don’t know, What We Left Behind is looking back at the Deep Space Nine TV series. Thanks to Ira Steven Behr who alongside her writers spoke about the Series 8 we have an idea of what Episode 8 is gonna be like. The Star Trek series ran from 1993-1999, seven Seasons straight. DS9 Episode 8 will see writers Ronald D. Moore, Rene Echevarria, and Hans Beimler work together again!

DS9: A New Starship?

The documentary unveiled a brand new starship called USS Emmett TILL. Emmett TILL is designed by John Eaves in partnership with Star Trek Models. For those of you who don’t know John was a concept artist and a designer for DS9, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek Online and the movies of course.

USS Emmett is co-created by Eaglemoss Publications. Eaglemoss is responsible for producing collectible starship replicas. In another major spoiler, Emmett TILL will be commanded by Captain Ezri Dax in Star Trek Season 8. Dax earlier (in Nemesis) commanded Vesta-class USS Aventine.

Emmett TILL is named after a 14-year-old boy who had an African American descent. Emmett was lynched in Mississippi in 1955 in some racist incident. Till was a symbol of racial injustice in the 50’s which sparked 100’s of protests across the country. The incident goes something like; a white woman reportedly was offended by Emmett in his family’s grocery store. The DS9 documentary revealed first look on Twitter.

The writers along with Ira Steven assembled in a room to talk about DS9 Season 8. What we Left Behind tells us that DS9 will be animated. Ronald, Robert, Hans, Rene and Ira all are seen in a room discussing the plot for a theoretical episode for DS9. What We Left Behind is up for home release, and this theoretical episode will be a part of it. DVD and Blu-ray release will probably happen at the end of 2018.
