Square Enix has officially announced that Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will permanently shut down later this year, bringing an end to the free-to-play RPG after approximately three years of live service.
According to the publisher, the game’s servers will go offline on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. PT (October 7 in some regions), marking the conclusion of one of the company’s most ambitious mobile adaptations of the Final Fantasy VII universe.
The announcement was made through the game’s official social media channels, where Square Enix thanked players for their continued support while confirming that development will continue until the final day of service.
Square Enix explains why Ever Crisis is ending
In its official statement, Square Enix said the decision followed careful consideration of the game’s future.
“After careful consideration, we have determined that it would be difficult to continue providing the service that our players expect, and have therefore decided to end the service.”
The company also expressed gratitude to its community for supporting the title since launch.
Although the shutdown has been confirmed, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will remain playable until October 6. Square Enix has also confirmed that new events, campaigns, and updates will continue throughout the game’s remaining lifespan.
Sales of Red Crystals, the game’s premium currency, have already ended. However, players who already own Red Crystals can continue spending them until the servers permanently close.
Once service ends, player account data will eventually be deleted, and the game will no longer be accessible.

Ever Crisis expanded the Final Fantasy VII universe
Originally released on iOS and Android in September 2023, before launching on Steam later that year, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis served as both a retelling and expansion of the broader Final Fantasy VII timeline.
The RPG revisited events from Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core, Before Crisis, Advent Children, and Dirge of Cerberus, while introducing The First Soldier, a brand-new storyline exploring Sephiroth’s early years before the events of the original game.
Its chapter-based structure allowed longtime fans to revisit iconic moments while expanding the franchise’s lore with new story content.
While Ever Crisis is coming to an end, Square Enix’s broader Final Fantasy VII roadmap remains active. The company is continuing development of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final entry in the remake trilogy, which is currently scheduled to launch in Spring 2027.
For existing Ever Crisis players, the remaining months offer one final opportunity to complete ongoing events, revisit the game’s expanded storyline, and spend any remaining premium currency before the servers officially shut down.
