At Japan’s SPY x FAMILY Anime Extra Mission event, the highly anticipated announcement was made: Season 3 of the popular anime series is officially in the works.
The announcement was accompanied by a new super teaser visual featuring characters Anya and Bond, created by the series’ character designer, Kazuaki Shimada, and art director Yuni Yoshida.
However, details such as the release date, additional staff, or cast were not disclosed at this time. The original SPY x FAMILY manga, authored by Tatsuya Endo, began serialization in Shonen Jump+ in March 2019 and has since released 13 volumes in Japan.
VIZ Media publishes the English version of the manga, contributing to the series’ international popularity. The first season of the anime aired from April to October 2022, while the second season premiered in October 2023.
Season 1 of the anime was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi and produced by CloverWorks and WIT Studio, with Takahiro Harada joining as a director for Season 2.
The series has been well-received, with fans eagerly awaiting further developments and new content from the franchise.
In addition to the TV series, the latest SPY x FAMILY movie, titled SPY x FAMILY CODE: White, was directed by Takashi Katagiri and released in Japan in December 2023.
The film features an original story by Tatsuya Endo and a screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi. Crunchyroll plans to release the movie worldwide in April 2024, further expanding the reach of this beloved franchise.
