After more than a decade of music, friendship, rivalry, and bittersweet farewells, Sound! Euphonium is reaching its final chapter. Kyoto Animation has released the final trailer for Sound! Euphonium: The Final Movie Part 2, giving fans a new look at the conclusion of Kumiko Oumae’s high school journey. The theatrical film opened in Japan on September 11, 2026, and serves as the culmination of a franchise that began with its first TV anime in 2015. Kyoto Animation officially lists The Final Movie Part 2 as the concluding theatrical project for the series.

The new trailer is particularly significant because it looks back across the series’ 11-year history while introducing additional footage created for the final movie. It brings together familiar moments from Kitauji High School’s concert band with new scenes that expand upon the story previously seen in Sound! Euphonium 3.

Kumiko, Reina, and Mayu Take Center Stage

The final trailer focuses heavily on Kumiko Oumae, Reina Kousaka, and Mayu Kuroe, whose relationships form the emotional core of the final chapter.

Kumiko, now the president of the Kitauji High School Concert Band, is determined to lead the group toward the National Competition. Reina remains one of her closest friends and serves as the band’s drum major, while Mayu’s arrival as a transfer student creates a new challenge for Kumiko.

The footage shows the three characters confronting their individual struggles while continuing to pursue the same goal. The trailer also revisits emotional moments involving Kumiko and Reina, including their tearful scene on Mount Daikichi and Kumiko’s conversations with the other band members.

The movie adds material that was not featured in the television series, including new performance sequences and additional moments involving the graduating students. The two-part film project is based on Sound! Euphonium 3 but features a rewritten scenario and newly animated material.

Kyoto Animation Brings the 11-Year Journey to an End

The production reunites major creative staff from throughout the franchise. Tatsuya Ishihara serves as chief director, while Taichi Ogawa directs the movie. Jukki Hanada handles the screenplay, with Shoko Ikeda and Kazumi Ikeda credited for character design and Kyoto Animation returning as the animation studio.

The film’s music comes from Akito Matsuda, with TRUE and the Kitauji High School Concert Band performing the theme song “ReCoda (The Final Movie Ver.).” The production also includes performance cooperation from Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and Progressive! Wind Orchestra.

The final trailer goes beyond Kumiko’s generation as well, showing glimpses of younger members who represent the future of the Kitauji band. That gives the conclusion a sense of continuity as the students who carried the series forward prepare to leave the stage.

With The Final Movie Part 2 now in Japanese theaters, Sound! Euphonium has officially entered the final movement of its long-running anime story.
