Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris recently made headlines by debuting as a couple at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on April 27.
At the event, Bush dazzled in a strapless black gown adorned with gold embellishments, while Harris matched her style in a black suit featuring an embellished jacket.
This year’s dinner was hosted by “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost and aimed to raise funds for WHCA scholarships and celebrate the achievements of journalism award recipients.
President Joe Biden was also in attendance and participated in the traditional roasting session led by Jost. This marked the first time Bush, a veteran attendee of the event, brought Harris as her date.
Just days before the dinner, Bush publicly confirmed her relationship with Harris through a heartfelt essay, where she discussed the end of her marriage to Grant Hughes and her identification as queer.
Bush, who had been married to Hughes for just over a year, filed for divorce in August 2023 and was romantically linked to Harris by the following fall. She wrote about the transformative personal journey that led her to Harris, describing a significant, revealing four-and-a-half-hour meal they shared as one of the most surreal experiences of her life.
She pondered whether their connection was “fated” or a case of “invisible string theory.” Bush also highlighted the integrity of their relationship timeline, noting that neither she nor Harris pursued their connection until after they had both exited their previous marriages. Harris had previously been married to Ali Krieger, with whom she shares two children.
