Sony Group revealed its strategy on Thursday to expand its anime business, positioning it as a pivotal part of its entertainment operations alongside games, music, and movies.

During a corporate strategy briefing, the electronics and entertainment giant emphasized its commitment to enhancing the production and distribution of high-quality anime works. They also outlined plans to support creators by introducing production software to streamline workflows and foster talent development.

Chairman Kenichiro Yoshida expressed Sony’s dedication to contributing to the global entertainment scene through anime creation, calling it “world-class entertainment.”

The company intends to trial new software aimed at digitalizing anime production processes and is contemplating establishing an organization to train international anime creators.

Sony Group encompasses several companies, including Aniplex, a Tokyo-based anime studio known for the popular “Demon Slayer” series, and Crunchyroll, a U.S. anime distributor acquired by Sony in 2021.
