Solo Leveling’s highly awaited sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, is finally receiving a webtoon adaptation, with a release date now revealed for eager fans. Based on the web novel written by Daum, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok follows Jinwoo’s son and is the perfect read for those missing Solo Leveling.
According to an announcement on X by KakaoPage, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s webtoon adaptation is set to be released on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 10 p.m. Korean Standard Time.
The announcement was accompanied by a new key visual featuring Sung Suho, Jinwoo’s son and the protagonist of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, who bears a striking resemblance to his father as he smiles while wielding two swords, surrounded by swirling shadows.
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s webtoon adaptation was first announced in October 2023 by the CEO of D&C Media in an interview. As highlighted in the Crunchyroll documentary on Solo Leveling, adapting a web novel into a webtoon or manhwa can be a lengthy process since a series is only published once a substantial number of chapters are prepared in advance.
Therefore, it makes sense that it took almost a year for Solo Leveling’s sequel to be ready for its webtoon debut.
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Webtoon Launches on KakaoPage Amid High Anticipation for English Release
Since the series is licensed by D&C Media, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s webtoon will be released on KakaoPage and will likely gradually become available on other Kakao-owned manga platforms like Piccoma.
Currently, there is no information on when fans can expect the series to be licensed in English. Unfortunately, it may take some time for the series to be officially translated, as it typically takes a few months for a series to be licensed after its Korean debut.
However, given the global popularity of Solo Leveling and the high anticipation surrounding the sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok might break the norm and be licensed sooner than most manhwa. For now, the web novel Solo Leveling: Ragnarok is available in English on Tapas.
One of the key reasons Solo Leveling achieved its remarkable success was due to its exceptional art by Jang Sung-rak. Despite the artist’s passing, Solo Leveling maintained a high standard of quality, resulting in high expectations for the sequel’s visuals and art.
Fortunately, besides the stunning new key visual, KakaoPage’s website also provides a few snippets of the manhwa and what to expect from the plot, including excerpts from Solo Leveling’s epilogue. So far, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s art appears poised to meet these high expectations.
Though JIN is still relatively unknown as an artist, the previews suggest that the sequel may be able to replicate the beloved character designs and visuals from Solo Leveling.
