Known for leading the girl group Girl’s Day, Sojin is a well-known singer and actress from South Korea. She was born in Daegu, South Korea, on May 21, 1986, and went to Kyungduk Girls’ High School, Seojin Middle School, and Lee Hyun Elementary School.
She attended Yeungnam University and majored in mechanical engineering as part of her academic journey.
Sojin trained vocals for Ulala Session, a K-pop boy band, before her debut. On July 7, 2010, she made her formal debut as a Girl’s Day member on KBS’ Music Bank with the release of their first song, “Tilt My Head.” “Our Love Like This,” Sojin’s debut solo single for the Flames of Desire OST, was released on January 9, 2011.
On April 19, 2012, Girl’s Day made a reappearance with the release of the mini-album “Everyday II,” which included the Sojin-composed song “Telepathy.” She wrote the song “It’s Snowing” for Tokyo Girl that same year in partnership with a male composer; the song was eventually released on December 7.
Beyond just songs, on March 2, 2014, Sojin and hip-hop performer Crucial Star reworked Park Hye-kyung’s “Three Things I Want to Give You.”
The confirmation of Sojin’s appearance in MBC’s ‘The Spies Who Loved Me,’ which is slated to air in October, came on June 24, 2020. She pursued her acting career in the years that followed, landing a part in “Shooting Stars” on September 15, 2021, and joining the cast of the drama “Alchemy of Souls” on June 23, 2021.
Sojin was cast as Yoo Young-joo in the one-act drama “Don’t Announce Your Husband’s Death,” which opened on June 17, 2022.
