One of the main characters on SmackDown’s women’s roster, Shotzi has been a part of several of the show’s most notable plots and feuds. She just returned to NXT, and during Tattum Paxley’s match, she ran into Lyra Valkyra, the NXT Women’s Champion. It became an invitation, which Lyra Valkyria accepted. Lyra stated that she would talk to Ava after accepting a title shot for the next week.
She claimed to have already spoken with her and to only need her approval. The match was officially announced and scheduled for the next week’s NXT second taping. Shotzi, however, reportedly sustained a serious injury during the taping, according to a backstage update.
Shotzi suffers a Knee Injury
Shotzi suffered a major knee injury during WWE NXT’s second taping for the program airing next week, according to Corey Brennan of Fightful.com. The referee stopped the contest between Shotzi and Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Championship after Shotzi hurt her knee.
After being led backstage, she was examined by the medical staff. According to Corey Brennan on Fightful.com on X, “A major knee injury sustained by Shotzi caused the NXT Women’s Title match between her and Lyra Valkyria to be stopped during tonight’s second #WWENXT taping.”
After being assisted to her back, she is currently being examined. The severity of the injury and the amount of time it would take her to recover in time for competition are uncertain. This week on SmackDown, Shotzi and Tiffany Stratton will square off in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying battle.
It appears that if the injury is severe, Tiffany would be facing a substitute star on SmackDown. Official information regarding the replacement or the injury report is still lacking, though.
