The second season of Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary is set to premiere in April 2025, following the success of the first season, which aired in July.
Studio Lapin Track, the studio behind the first season, is returning to animate the sequel. The story will cover events from the third and fifth novels in the series, titled Shuki Gentei Kuri Kinton Jiken and Toki Gentei Bonbon Chocolat Jiken, respectively.
These adaptations were teased with new logos when the announcement was made at the end of the first season’s 10th episode.
The anime is based on a novel series written by Honobu Yonezawa, who is well-known for the Hyouka series, and it’s published by Tokyo Sogensha.
The story of Shoshimin has also been adapted into manga form, with the first two novels receiving serialized versions in Monthly GFantasy magazine.
The first manga adaptation, Shunki Gentei Ichigo Tart Jiken, was illustrated by Anko Manjuya, while the second one, Kaki Gentei Tropical Parfait Jiken, was brought to life by OmiOmI.
These two novels were the main focus of the first season of the anime. For the second season, fans can look forward to seeing how the next chapters of the novels are brought to the screen.
In terms of production, Shoshimin is helmed by director Mamoru Kanbe, with Toshiya Ono overseeing the series composition.
Atsushi Saito worked on the character designs, while Mayu Gushiken served as the chief animation director.
The music was composed by Takahiro Obata. The main cast includes Hina Yomiya as Yuki Osanai, Shuichiro Umeda as Jogoro Kobato, Chika Anzai as Chisato Dojima, and Makoto Furukawa as Kengo Dojima.
The story follows Jogoro Kobato, who, after a difficult experience known as wisdom work, teams up with his classmate Yuki Osanai to try and lead quiet, ordinary lives.
However, their plan for a peaceful high school life is constantly interrupted by strange events and unexpected disasters.
