Infused with this are the ups and downs of working in a corporate world. The protagonists are both closely tied to the entertainment industry. While one is the head of the PR team in her company, her nemesis is her top client. Watch them as they strive to hold up their reputation in the industry while also fighting off emotions of love that have started to blossom between them!
The storyline of Shooting stars
The first episode of the Korean drama ‘Shooting stars’ was released on the 22nd of April, 2022. The positive expectations of the producers and directors were shattered when fans started criticizing the drama barely five minutes in. The series stars the glamorous Lee Sung Kyung (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo) along with the charming Kim Young Dae (The Penthouse series) in the lead roles.
Lee Sung Kyung Plays the role of Oh Han Byul. She is an independent and fierce woman in charge of all her colleagues in the PR team of an up-and-rising entertainment agency. Although her area of work sounds simple, there is more than what meets the eye. She hustles daily to manage and ensure her clients and their reputations are under control.
On the other side of her table is Gong Tae Sung. He is famous for his spotless image and a high reputation as a star. However, below the layers of this mask lies a notorious and mischievous person who loves to go crazy once in a while. What’s more, he is also the former classmate of Han Byul in both school and college! Han Byul’s journey in managing her sworn enemy/client forms the crux of the story.

Shooting Stars is being heavily criticized: Here’s why
The plot sure sounds fun, isn’t it? However, the producers failed to bring out these fun elements in the best way. The very introduction of the characters turned out to be problematic and ‘Shooting Stars is being dismissed and criticized by the fans. The episode opens with Han Byul talking about herself when she receives a phone call. On the other side of the call is an update about Gong Tae Sung who is volunteering for a project in Africa.
Fans found this extremely offensive. Further, the choice of Africa as a whole continent without even researching about the various countries added to the criticisms. Viewers have found both the cinematography and concept stereotypical. The scene progresses to a time skip that showcases Gong Tae Sung indulging in traditional activities in Africa. The background music and visuals have both been executed after poor or no research and fans are nothing but disappointed.
In addition to this, fans have also not hesitated to express their disappointment with the performance and acting of Kim Dae Young. They believe his skills have not improved much from his previous projects. Especially in comparison to the bold and loud Lee Sung Kyung, Dae Young’s performance appears to be rather dull and lifeless. These are two of the major reasons why ‘Shooting stars is receiving criticisms’. The first two episodes have secured ratings that are in no way close to what was anticipated. The entire cast and actors have a lot to learn and grow in various aspects. Nevertheless, fans continue to shower their love upon the couple and drama as a whole. We cannot wait to see how the drama will redeem itself in the upcoming episodes!
