Over his remarkable two-decade career, Lakers star LeBron James has solidified his place as one of the NBA’s greatest players, constantly in the GOAT debate with a devoted following backing him.
NFL legend Shannon Sharpe has long been Team LeBron, a stance that recently faced a challenge when a fan called him out on social media. The fan shared a screenshot of Sharpe’s tweet from 12 years ago, where he claimed Michael Jordan as the GOAT followed by Kobe Bryant, questioning Sharpe’s allegiance to King James.
Quick to defend his words from over a decade ago, Shannon Sharpe reposted the screenshot from his official X account, offering an explanation.
Sharpe goes gaga over James’ physique
“How many rings, MVPs, All-NBA selections, final appearances, All-Star appearances, All-Defensive selections did Bron have at the time of that tweet? Tweet me back with his current resume,” Sharpe stated. He implied that his rankings were from a time when LeBron was a rookie, still finding his footing in the professional realm.
Sharpe directly challenged the individual who shared the tweet to compare LeBron’s current achievements, pointing out that the Lakers’ ace was relatively new to the scene back then and did not boast the impressive stats he holds today.
As a longtime endorser of LeBron James, Sharpe has been a vocal advocate for Bron’s GOAT status in the NBA. In a recent episode of the Nightcap podcast, Sharpe showered LeBron with praise, unable to contain his admiration. He was joined by Gilbert Arenas on the episode, who echoed Sharpe’s sentiments.
“You know from the top to bottom that a guy is not built as solid as him (LeBron James). At that height, Giannis is built more like a football player.
For the most part, basketball player because we don’t lift like that, we don’t lift legs like that,” Arenas remarked. Sharpe added to Arenas’ admiration, noting, “He has tremendous leg separation, I mean his quads, they’re they splitting.
You look at his calves, and you can tell he put his time on his legs and that is the foundation.” He underscored the significance of an athlete’s legs, suggesting that an athlete’s strength often lies in their lower body.
