Ctarnidd’s scheme to create chaos in the party has been successful in Shangri-La Frontier Chapter 185. The party members now not only have to get over the identity crisis but also recalibrate themselves to fight the boss monster once again. And then of course one of the biggest bombs that was dropped a few chapters ago, Rei has been a guy all along.
We saw the party members preparing to fight the big monster as it was entering its third phase. Sunraku was looking forward to what was coming, because of his skill and the allies he had by his side. He relied on Rei the most out of all, which he was very ostensible about, and that pleased Rei even.
We also got to see that Rei has a bit of a fantasy where he wishes that the positions were reversed. The support character pushed those thoughts away as Ctarnidd prepared its next attack after it had reached the next phase. And the moment its attack landed, the world changed for everyone, sending them into disarray.
Sunraku took his helmet off as he couldn’t see well once he was hit by the spell, but this was when things became more chaotic. He and all his party members had been gender bendered, except a spirit but spirits don’t have gender. We also got to see the pensive Rei was never a guy to begin with and this shocked the characters and readers alike.
