PLEDIS Entertainment has officially announced that SEVENTEEN member Hoshi (real name Kwon Soon Young) has successfully underwent surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee and is currently resting and recovering.
According to the agency, Hoshi sustained the injury during practice with the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Team.
Following a detailed medical examination, he underwent surgery on September 18 and plans to focus on systematic rehabilitation through the military medical system.
Having enlisted in September 2025 with a scheduled discharge date in March 2027, Hoshi will temporarily step back from scheduled activities to prioritize his health.

Consequently, his participation in upcoming official military events- including the Taekwondo Demonstration Team Event and the Ground Forces Festival 2026- will be difficult. Both PLEDIS Entertainment and military authorities emphasized that his complete recovery remains their highest priority.
Hoshi Addresses Fans Regarding Injury and Performance Cancellations
Prior to his surgery, Hoshi directly addressed his fanbase on a fan communication platform to share the unexpected news about his knee condition.
He expressed genuine regret for missing out on scheduled performances that he had diligently prepared for, while urging supporters to continue showing love to his military unit and fellow members. Addressing the community, Hoshi shared:
“I’m cautiously writing this as it might be somewhat shocking news.
I injured my knee while rehearsing with the Ground Forces performance team, and after getting it checked, I was diagnosed with a complete anterior cruciate ligament tear.”
Understanding the disappointment of supporters who were anticipating his upcoming appearances, Hoshi elaborated on his personal feelings and asked fans to support his military peers:
“I was really looking forward to these performances and prepared hard for them, so I’m deeply disappointed that I won’t be able to join, and I feel very sorry to the fans who have been waiting for me.
Even though I can’t be there, please send lots of support to the Taekwondo Demonstration Team and the Ground Forces performance team, which includes Jihoon (WOOZI).”
Systematic Rehabilitation, Military Cooperation, and Global Support
Both PLEDIS Entertainment and the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Team are coordinating closely to ensure that Hoshi receives proper medical support and ideal service conditions in accordance with relevant procedures so that he can concentrate entirely on stable treatment.
Global fans have flooded social media platforms with messages of support, wishing the SEVENTEEN performance leader a full and swift recovery as he begins his rehabilitation process.
