SEVENTEEN’s dynamic duo V8– comprising members Vernon and THE 8- has officially marked a standout milestone on the international music scene.
On July 18, 2026, the subunit made its official entry onto the prestigious U.S. Billboard main albums chart, the Billboard 200, where their first mini-album *V8* debuted at No. 128.
The entry highlights the global demand for SEVENTEEN’s diverse projects, establishing V8 as a formidable force on global charts independent of their full 13-member ensemble.
The charting success reflects the strong enthusiasm surrounding the duo’s distinct musical direction.
By blending hyperpop, electropop, and hip-hop influences, V8 has successfully captivated international listeners and media outlets alike, proving that experimental unit releases can achieve substantial commercial and critical traction worldwide.
Expressing Artistic Identity and Creative Freedom
Reflecting on the milestone and the creative freedom behind their unit debut, Vernon and THE 8 highlighted the deeply personal nature of the project.
Speaking on the release of their eight-track mini-album, THE 8 shared:
“This is a meaningful album that fully reflects Vernon and my own musical colors and tastes.”
Echoing the enthusiasm surrounding their artistic collaboration, Vernon expressed his anticipation for sharing their authentic voices directly with listeners, stating:
“I can’t wait for it to be released. We wanted to tell a sincere story.”
Their collaborative efforts extended to working with top-tier international producers- including Pharrell Williams, Mechatok, Kirara, and Dylan Brady- on the lead track “Singasong.”
The album’s overarching narrative explores themes of youth shaped by uncertainty, capturing moments of wandering, confusion, recovery, and personal growth.
Dominating Global Charts and Completing Unit Tour
In addition to its entry on the U.S. Billboard 200, *V8* has generated extraordinary momentum across major international music markets.
The mini-album achieved half-million seller status within just three days of release, topping Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Ranking, China’s QQ Music daily and weekly digital bestseller charts, and South Korea’s Circle Weekly Album Chart.
Following their chart achievements, V8 successfully wrapped up promotions and their first mini-album tour, concluding with the *2026 VERNON THE 8 LIVE – HONG KONG* solo concert series at AsiaWorld-Expo from July 17 to July 19.
Due to overwhelming fan demand, an extra date was added, drawing over 10,000 attendees across three sold-out shows.
Performing tracks from *V8*, unreleased solo material, and SEVENTEEN tracks, Vernon and THE 8 brought their debut unit era to an electric conclusion.
