BIGBANG’s Daesung recently made headlines after offering a face-to-face, kneeling apology to 2NE1‘s Minzy on a fresh episode of his YouTube show, Jipdaeseong (House Daesung).
The heartfelt reunion, which also featured fellow former YG Entertainment labelmates Se7en and 2NE1’s Sandara Park, provided an opportunity for the singer to address a controversial variety show incident from two years ago that had left fans and his peers deeply uncomfortable.
The Context Behind the Controversy
The root of the issue traces back to February 2024, when Daesung appeared on the highly provocative segment “Narak Quiz Show” on the popular YouTube channel Psick University.
The comedy segment is notorious for cornering celebrities with high-stakes, controversial questions designed to create awkward predicaments.
During his guest appearance, Daesung was abruptly asked to identify the member of 2NE1 who “could be absent” or “contributed the least” to the group’s massive success.
Caught completely off guard and flustered by the pressure of the show’s format, Daesung ultimately named the group’s youngest member, Minzy.
Although the show was meant to be satirical, the comment sparked significant backlash from fans who felt the question- and his eventual answer- was overly disrespectful to Minzy’s legacy as an essential part of the iconic girl group.
The clip quickly went viral across online communities, prompting widespread criticism.

A Sincere Confrontation and Lighthearted Reconciliation
During the July 2026 broadcast of Jipdaeseong, Daesung brought up the matter before even introducing Minzy to the panel. Expressing genuine remorse, he stated,
“There is someone I must apologize to with a sincere heart,” adding that for him, the greatest “MJ” of this era was not Michael Jackson, but Minzy.
When Se7en pushed him on the topic, asking, “Why did you do that?”, Daesung admitted his regret clearly:
“I was completely out of my mind. Ever since Minzy debuted, she got the nickname ‘Female Daesung,’ so I didn’t mention it, but I’ve always felt sorry.”
Minzy playfully chimed in, saying,
“I want to receive a proper apology.”
Without hesitation, Daesung knelt down on a chair directly in front of her, bowing his head and repeating,
“Minzy, I’m sorry!”
Minzy accepted the apology with a warm smile, but she was honest about how the original broadcast had made her feel.
“When I first watched ‘Narak Quiz Show,’ it felt like I had been hit out of nowhere.
I felt a little stunned. I wondered why this oppa was doing this,” she confessed.
Sandara Park even added that the 2NE1 members had initially discussed boycotting Daesung’s YouTube channel altogether when the episode first aired.
To completely clear the air and bring back a sense of humor, Se7en suggested they reverse the scenario. He asked Minzy,
“Who is the most useless member in BIGBANG?” Minzy initially hesitated, prompting Daesung to joke about how long it takes to process those high-pressure questions.
Minzy then brightly answered,
“Daesung!”
Daesung immediately shook her hand, laughing and conceding,
“I accept it.”
The playful turnaround brought an end to the lingering tension, leaving fans pleased to see the longtime labelmates restoring their close, sibling-like bond.
