The TV anime Sentenced to Be a Hero has revealed new details for its upcoming Episode 11, titled “Sentence: Aid in Evacuation of Ioff Cheg Port 2.” Alongside the announcement, the production team released a new trailer, episode summary, and selected stills, offering a closer look at the next stage of the story.
The series, based on Rocket Shokai’s award-winning light novel published under Kadokawa’s Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint, continues to build momentum as it adapts the dark fantasy narrative centered on “Heroes” who are, in reality, criminals forced into frontline combat. The original work has received multiple accolades, including recognition at the 2020 Kakuyomu Awards, the Tsugirano Awards, and This Light Novel is Amazing! 2023.
Episode 11 advances the ongoing conflict, focusing on a high-stakes evacuation scenario. Xylo and his team arrive at a warehouse to rescue evacuees, where they reunite with Jayce. However, their operation is complicated by Neely becoming the target of heavy artillery known as the “Iron Whale,” limiting their ability to provide support. As the situation escalates, Xylo and Teoritta push forward toward Tui Jia, only to be confronted by Shiji Bau, setting up a critical clash.
The episode’s production staff includes scriptwriter Kenta Ihara, with storyboard direction by Hirotaka Tokuda. Direction duties are handled by Fumiaki Usui, Shumpei Umemoto, and Yoshiki Nakakoji, while chief animation direction is led by Masaru Obata and Yasutaka Kimura. A large animation team contributes to the episode, reflecting the scale and complexity of the sequence.
The series began in October 2020 on the self-publishing site kakuyomu.jp, and by September 2021, it had received an official release with illustrations by MEPHISTO under Kadokawa’s Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint.
After winning a string of accolades, including first place in the User Recommendations category in the 2020 Kakuyomu Awards and second place overall in the Tsugirano Awards for up-and-coming light novel series, “Sentenced to Be a Hero” is soon to become an anime!
