It is a sad day indeed as popular actress Kathryn Kates has passed away. She gained fame and recognition after starring in hit sitcoms including Seinfeld, Orange Is The New Black and Law & Order: SVU. The late star put up a brave fight against cancer but finally succumbed to the deathly disease.
She was 73 years old always be remembered and adored in our hearts as the powerful force of nature she was. While calling her a true icon, the late actress is remembered as someone who loved the craft and had enough patience to fill 10 ships. It was further reported that a memorial for Kates is going to be organized for the spring.

Kathryn Kates went on to star in several recurring roles as Jason Bigg’s mother, Amy Kanter-Bloom in Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black. She did another similar role in the Jennifer Lopez starrer NBC police drama series Shades of Blue. Other than these shows, the actress was a part of a few other shows. One of her best roles is still that in NBC’s comedy sitcom Seinfeld, in episodes namely The Dinner Party (1994) and The Rye(1996). Apart from her thriving television career, the actress has spent her fair share of time in theatres as well. Broadway’s Significant Other in 2017 and appeared in several Off-Broadway shows. Kates was also a founding member of the Colony Theatre in Los Angeles.

The actress was most recently seen portraying the role of Angie DeCarlo in the 2021 spin-off film The Many Saints of Newark. It was the film adaptation of the hit series The Sopranos. Kates’ manager Bob McGowan called her an angel and further added that the entire time she was sick, she never complained about it. Kates’ agent Erica Bines stated that the late star’s immense talent will live on for generations to come.
