Science SARU got a lot of attention because Toho bought the anime studio, hoping to become a major player in the anime industry.
Despite this major change, SARU continues to produce new content, including a brand-new movie set for a summer release in Japan. Directed by Naoko Yamada, Your Colors has revealed a trailer offering fans a peak into the upcoming story.
Scheduled to hit Japanese theaters on August 30th, Your Colors will premiere at the Annecy Film Festival. This prestigious event will also showcase other high-profile projects such as The Lord of The Rings: The War of The Rohirrim and Warner Bros’ Creature Commandos.
Although a North American release date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s likely that Your Colors will eventually be accessible to international audiences, following the trend of many anime films.
Science SARU has another major release this year, collaborating with Netflix for the eagerly awaited adaptation of the manga Dandadan. Set to stream this fall, the series promises a unique viewing experience if it stays true to its source material.
Your Colors revolves around Totsuko, a high school student with the ability to perceive the “colors” of people’s emotions. Among the hues of happiness, excitement, and calm, she finds a particularly beautiful color emanating from her classmate, Kimi.
Despite not playing an instrument, Totsuko starts a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music lover they meet at a used bookstore. Their practices at an old church on a remote island lead to the formation of deep friendships and budding feelings. As they bond through music, they begin to uncover their true selves.
