Savannah Chrisley, the former star of Chrisley Knows Best, has been outspoken about her father, Todd Chrisley’s, difficult situation in prison. Todd is currently serving a lengthy sentence for fraud, and Savannah has been tirelessly fighting for his release ever since the sentence was handed down.
In her recent update on Instagram, Savannah shared her concerns with her followers, updating them on the harsh conditions Todd is facing behind bars.
Savannah’s Ongoing Fight for Her Father’s Release
Since Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were both sentenced to prison, Savannah has been vocal about wanting her parents to be released early. She has used her platform on Instagram, where she has 2.8 million followers, to bring awareness to their situation. Despite her constant advocacy, Savannah has been met with setbacks, as the results of her efforts so far have not led to her parents’ early release.
In a recent Instagram post, Savannah expressed her disappointment in missing Donald Trump’s inauguration, citing her therapy appointment and canceled flights as the reasons. However, she quickly moved on to update her followers on her father’s prison conditions, and what she shared was not good news.
Todd Chrisley Faces Freezing Cold in Prison
In her Instagram update, Savannah reminded her followers about a previous post in which she revealed that Todd’s prison, FPC Pensacola, was closing down. She explained that her father was currently experiencing incredibly cold conditions with no heat in the facility.
“He has on multiple pairs of sweatpants, sweatshirts, [and] socks,” she said. Savannah went on to explain that the prisoners at the facility were struggling to keep warm, with some even wearing socks on their hands. “Men have socks on their hands. These men are just trying not to freeze to death,” she added. To make matters worse, there was also a lack of hot water in parts of the prison.
Savannah expressed how heartbreaking it was to see her father in these conditions. As a loving daughter, she is devastated by the treatment he is receiving in prison. She has continued to use her platform to highlight the mistreatment and poor conditions at the prison, hoping that her efforts can make a difference.
Savannah Criticizes the Bureau of Prisons Leadership
Savannah’s latest post also addressed some concerning news about the Bureau of Prisons. The director of the Bureau of Prisons, Colette Peters, recently resigned after serving for 30 months in the role. Savannah was quick to share her disappointment in Peters’ resignation, stating that she did not believe Peters had done anything to help her father during her time in office.
Savannah also expressed frustration over the new acting director of the Bureau of Prisons, William Lothrop. She claimed that Lothrop had been made aware of multiple instances of theft, abuse, and violations of the First Step Act but did nothing to address the issues.
“Lothrop was personally made aware of the theft, abuse, and outright failure to adhere to President Trump’s First Step Act, and my father exposed these issues to him directly,” Savannah said. “Yet instead of taking action to follow up, he ignored calls from our legal team and the press and chose to perpetuate the same broken system.”
Savannah’s anger was evident in her post as she accused Lothrop of hiding the abuse and corruption within the system, instead of taking steps to correct it. She believes that the leadership within the Bureau of Prisons is failing to address the issues at hand, and she is determined to keep calling attention to the problem.
The Prison’s Closure and Its Impact on Todd
In late 2024, Savannah shared shocking news with her followers: Todd’s prison, FPC Pensacola, was closing down. While she didn’t provide a specific reason for the closure, Savannah made it clear that she believed the closure was a way for the facility to avoid responsibility for the corruption and abuse that had occurred there.
Savannah said that the closure left her with “mixed feelings,” explaining that it felt like the prison was escaping accountability. She was frustrated that those responsible for the mistreatment would not be held accountable.
Savannah’s feelings were further complicated by the fact that she had hoped the closure would lead to changes in the system, but it seemed like the problem would only be swept under the rug. The prison’s closure did not seem to signal any real resolution for the issues that had been raised, leaving Savannah frustrated and determined to keep fighting.
Todd’s Struggles and Savannah’s Determination
Todd’s time in prison has not been easy. He has faced numerous challenges since entering the facility, including harsh conditions and spending holidays behind bars.
Todd has also become a target at his prison, adding even more stress to an already difficult situation. Despite these challenges, his sentence has not been reduced, and he is still scheduled to be released in 2032.
Although the journey has been tough, Savannah has not given up hope. She remains determined to fight for her father’s early release and has stated that she is working with senators who are willing to hear the evidence she has collected.
She is pushing for those responsible for the problems at FPC Pensacola to be held accountable for their actions. “Just because they’re closing down, doesn’t mean they won’t be held accountable,” she said. “I am going to make sure of that.”
Savannah’s Commitment to Justice
Savannah’s passion for justice and her commitment to fighting for her father’s release are clear. Even though the road has been filled with challenges and setbacks, she has not lost hope.
She remains resolute in her mission to bring attention to the abuses her father is enduring and to ensure that those responsible for the corruption within the prison system are held accountable.
Savannah’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as she continues to use her platform to advocate for prison reform and for her father’s well-being. She is working tirelessly to bring about change, and while it is uncertain what the future holds, Savannah is determined to keep pushing for what she believes is right.
