The small community at Savage River is far from welcoming for Miki Anderson as she arrives in her native town set in the countryside of Victoria after ten long years in jail for murdering Jasmine, another local girl. Right as she prepares herself to finally leave the past in the past and move ahead in life, the people in this hamlet refuse to be so understanding as to let her.
In its latest release, Episode 3, which dropped on Sunday, September 18, 2022, we saw Detective Rachel Kennedy begin an investigation on a fresh murder, nay a homicide, because it was that of Hugh Lang, the father of the late Jasmine. Town secrets start getting exposed as Rachel finds a torn letterhead that mentions Laila’s name and ward number, leading her to the maternity ward of a close-by hospital for women. She and Kirby thus assume that Laila was pregnant with Hugh’s child in the absence of further proof.
In addition, new agendas come forward as Ivy confesses about Hugh’s car, and Rachel finds a size 9 or 10 shoe print near the are Tim, Kaji, and Ivy had found the car.

Kevin, the owner of the meatworks, is readying himself ahead for the arrival of some prospective buyers. As he gives them a tour, Bill and Rachel look into the above-mentioned tip, an anonymous text message which prompts them to scrounge the slaughterhouse’s lockers. Someone had planted false evidence in Miki’s locker, but thankfully, she finds it before the detectives do.
Back in her house, however, Miki is almost exposed when the police conduct a surprise search, but her mother, Lynne, successfully hides her daughter’s secrets.

Virginia Gay plays local detective Rachel Kennedy, and veteran Robert Grubb is the town’s aged cop as Bill Kirby. Moreover, the crime drama is directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse known for Proof and The Dressmaker.
