Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live, the stage musical based on Naoko Takeuchi’s iconic manga, is returning to theaters this August. Tokyo’s Togeki theater will screen recorded performances from the musical’s 2025 international tour across four days, giving fans another chance to experience the hit production on the big screen.

The limited screenings will feature both the London and North American casts, allowing audiences to watch two performances from the record-breaking world tour. The event offers fans who missed the live shows, or those looking to revisit them, a unique opportunity to enjoy the musical in theaters.
Four Days of Sailor Moon: The Super Live Screenings
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live will return to Tokyo’s Togeki theater for a limited four-day theatrical event on August 1, 2, 5, and 6. Each day will feature recorded performances from both the London cast (Team UK) and the North American cast (Team US), giving fans the chance to experience two versions of the hit stage production.
Tickets are priced at ¥3,900 (about $24 USD). Advance ticket sales began on July 3, while any remaining seats became available through the Togeki box office on July 4.
The event gives fans who missed the international tour, or those who want to revisit it, another opportunity to watch the musical on the big screen.
A Stage Musical Loved Around the World
Unlike a traditional adaptation, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live presents a fast-paced stage show that combines memorable moments from the manga with live music, action scenes, and elaborate costumes.
The production is known for its 2.5D theater style, blending live performances with anime-inspired visuals, choreography, and special effects. Performances are presented in Japanese with English subtitles, making the show accessible to international audiences.
Since its debut in Tokyo in 2018, the musical has toured major cities including Paris, London, New York, Washington, D.C., and Taipei, helping introduce the Sailor Moon franchise to fans around the world.
The Record-Breaking 2025 World Tour
The 2025 world tour marked the musical’s biggest international expansion to date. Team UK, led by Yui Yokoyama as Sailor Moon, performed in London, while Team US, starring Riko Tanaka, toured 21 cities across North America.
Together, both tours attracted around 55,000 attendees, making it one of the largest international productions in the franchise’s history.
After completing their overseas performances, both casts reunited in Japan for a special homecoming run. The recordings from those London and North American performances are the ones that will be shown during the August theatrical event.
Part of Sailor Moon’s Latest Anniversary Celebrations
The theatrical screenings come during a busy period for the Sailor Moon franchise. Creator Naoko Takeuchi recently shared a new illustration celebrating the birthday of Usagi Tsukino and Chibiusa.
The franchise has also announced several new projects, including a collaboration with LINE FRIENDS, a new Figuarts ZERO chouette figure of Neo Queen Serenity, and new benefits for members of the official fan club.
These announcements continue the franchise’s ongoing celebration, giving fans new ways to enjoy Sailor Moon beyond the stage musical.
Will the Screenings Be Available Outside Japan?
At present, the August screenings have only been confirmed for Tokyo’s Togeki theater, and no international theatrical release or streaming plans have been announced.
Fans outside Japan will need to wait for any future updates from the official Sailor Moon channels regarding additional screenings or digital availability.
For now, the limited theatrical event offers Japanese audiences a rare opportunity to experience both international casts of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live on the big screen.
