Premiering its first episode on 4 September 2023, Safir is a Turkish Drama revolving around the Gulsoy family. They’re known to be of high status in Turkey, but much sooner than later, their position at the top of the ladder comes crumbling down when tragedy strikes.
Safir translates to Sapphire in English, and the symbolism of this gemstone is correlated to the plot of the story. Within the Gulsoy family and its problems, notions of truth, sincerity, and faith will be put to the test as they try to figure out how to climb back on top.
Synopsis
The Gulsoy family is considered to be one of the most influential families in the town of Cappadocia, Turkey. Their son, Ates, who had recently returned from America, became a reason for the Gulsoys to celebrate and reunite with his mother and brothers.
Ates’ father had died in a car accident, so his grandfather took control of the household. Though Ates didn’t get along with him, he loved his mother too much to refuse her request to come back to Turkey.
Now, Feraye was the daughter of Muhsin, a man who worked for the Gulsoys and was close enough with them to be considered an extension of the family. She and Ates’ brother Yaman were together but were hiding their relationship as they were aware of how problematic it would be.
Upon his brother’s arrival, Yaman decided it was the perfect time to announce his love for Feraye and decided to propose. However, things quickly took a turn when Okan, Ates, and Yaman’s other brothers got involved in a tragedy, shaking up the whole family.
As Ferayes and Yaman try and work their relationship through all the trials that fate is bringing towards them, Ates, as the oldest son and successor of the family, must take extreme measures to protect his loved ones from anything bad that may happen.
Safir Episode 2 Recap (Spoilers!)
In Safir, Episode 2, Yaman makes the frivolous decision to marry Aleyna. He was unable to bear the threats imposed by Celine and so decided to rashly pledge vows on the altar. This sudden announcement had the whole family in shock as it was too soon for the couple to think of marriage.
On the other hand, Feraye finds out that she’s pregnant. With everything going on in the Gulsoy family, she can’t risk her carrying a baby in her womb to be now. Apart from Ates, everyone else is aware of her pregnancy.
How long will Feraye be able to keep it a secret? To add to the suspense, Episode 2 also deals with Vural desperately looking for his son, but ends when things get complicated, and his efforts are left in vain.
