Japanese four-piece Ryokuoushoku Shakai has released its sixth original album, Atamago, marking the band’s first full-length record since 2025’s Channel U. Released on September 9, 2026, the 12-track album brings together six previously released songs and six new tracks while expanding the group’s contemporary pop-rock sound.
The title Atamago represents music that begins with the band’s thoughts, emotions and ideas before taking on a new life of its own. That concept is reflected in the album’s broad musical range and collaborative creative process, with all four members continuing to participate in songwriting.
The release also arrives as Ryokuoushoku Shakai continues building its international profile. Following the band’s successful Asia Tour 2025, which visited Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Jakarta and Singapore, Atamago represents another step in introducing its music to audiences outside Japan.
Atamago Features Anime, TV and Commercial Tie-In Songs
The new Ryokuoushoku Shakai album features several songs connected to major Japanese entertainment projects. “Riding the wind,” released in March 2026, serves as the theme song for the theatrical anime L’étoile de Paris en fleur, while “My Answer” was created for TV Asahi’s Thursday drama Emergency Interrogation Room.
“Shirushi” serves as the theme song for the Japanese television drama A Moonlight Nights Passing. The album also includes “Tsuzuku,” which was used for the Docomo Future Museum commercial, and “Hare Bare,” the theme song for Fuji TV’s coverage of the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship.

The complete tracklist opens with “Someone’s Country” and “TABOO,” followed by “My Answer,” “illusion,” “Utamago,” “Shirushi,” “Wakarinikui,” “Algorithm,” “Resisdance,” “Riding the wind,” “Tsuzuku” and “Hare Bare.”
The album’s visual identity was created by art director Motoko Marui. Its cover centers on an illustration designed to echo the raw emotions and impulses represented by the album’s title.
Ryokuoushoku Shakai, also known as Ryokushaka, formed in 2012 through high-school classmates Nagaya, Kobayashi and peppe, with Anami later joining as bassist and childhood friend of Kobayashi. The band has developed a strong following through its combination of powerful vocals, keyboard-driven melodies, guitar work and diverse songwriting styles.
The group’s streaming success includes “Mela!” surpassing 400 million streams, while “Be a flower” has passed 200 million. “Character” and “Summer Time Cinderella” have each exceeded 100 million streams.
Ryokuoushoku Shakai performed its first solo concert at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan in 2022 before embarking on arena tours in 2023 and 2024. The band also appeared on NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen for three consecutive years from 2022 through 2024 and received the Excellent Work Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards in 2023 for “Summer Time Cinderella.”
