Ryan Gosling elevated his “Kenergy” to new heights during Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony with his performance of the Oscar-nominated song “I’m Just Ken” from the film “Barbie.”
The actor’s highly anticipated rendition of the catchy tune was met with excitement, and he did not disappoint.
Amidst a vibrant display of pink and rhinestones, Ryan Gosling donned Barbie-inspired sunglasses and took center stage, surrounded by a flurry of backup dancers, including his “Barbie” co-stars Simu Liu and Ben Kingsley-Adair, who portrayed different versions of Ken in the film.
During the performance, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash surprised the audience with a thrilling guitar solo, adding an extra layer of excitement to the spectacle.
At one point, Gosling ventured into the crowd and enlisted his “Barbie” co-stars America Ferrera, Margot Robbie, and director Greta Gerwig to join him in singing the song when he pointed the mic towards them.
As he passed by his “La La Land” co-star Emma Stone, he handed her the mic, and she flawlessly sang a line of the song.
“Barbie” enjoyed considerable success at the box office last year, earning Gosling a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Ken.
Additionally, the film propelled him to newfound musical stardom with its playful single, which climbed the charts upon its release.
Despite its nomination for Best Original Song at the Oscars, “I’m Just Ken” ultimately lost out to Billie Eilish and Finneas’ “What Was I Made For,” another track from the “Barbie” movie.
Nevertheless, the electrifying performance left everyone feeling like a winner, including the audience.
