Starz will premiere the sophomore season of Run The World this week, picking things up right where they left off for this group of besties from Harlem, their personal lives, and professional challenges. Developed by Leigh Davenport, it debuted on that network two years ago.
With great critics, the show depicts how these four gals navigate through modern life. This comedy has all the hook potential elements you could seek in a Starz production, a great cast, a nice script with amazing dialogue to which generations can relate as well a storyline that’s also human in nature.
If you like half-hour comedy shows about real situations in a New York environment, then I definitely recommend “Run The World”, which is the kind of series that you can enjoy and stream in one day to catch up with ahead of the second season debut because I’m sure you’ll love how this show excels by exploring the black female experience and the stories to which only they can relate through their work, friendship, and struggles with love.
Run The World Season 1 Recap
The debut season gave us an introduction to a group of women from Harlem: Whitney, Ella, Renee, Sondi, and Ola. Each of them has a peculiar story. Take for example, Renee, who’s navigating a difficult marriage, or Whitney, who’s preparing mentally for getting married, only that by the debut season’s finale, the engagement and prospect of a wedding seem bleak as she’s having trouble connecting emotionally with Ola, her fiancé because Whitney has some side action, yes! She’s cheating ahead of her wedding, naughty, naughty!
As the debut season unfolded, Renne, Hope, Sondi, and Ella where all hyped up about Whitney’s bachelorette bash. On Ella’s storyline, as the last two episodes of season one came about, we learned that she was getting ready to write a novel. Now, as we’re about to kick off season two, we’re expected to pick things up right where they left.
We want to know if Whitney is going to keep on cheating on Ola, if she’s coming out clean, or if the engagement is off. As for Ella, how is she going along with that book? As we learned from the season one, she’s been at a bit of a writer’s block, and her previous publication didn’t get the traction she wished. Additionally, the series might explore Ella’s interesting story arc, because part of that writer’s block could be from what little we saw from her relationship with that Anderson fellow.
