Written by Hannah Kent, the film didn’t do well among the viewers as the horror point was overused in the story. The viewers felt the performance of the actors in Run Rabbit Run was power packed and brilliant.
The cinematography of the film was praised by the viewers, and the raw performance of Sarah in the film was loved by the viewers. Produced by Anna McLeish and Naomi Mulholland, the psychological thriller film stars Sarah Snook playing the role of Sarah, Mia’s mother, and a gynecologist, Lily La Torre playing the role of Mia, Sarah’s daughter, Samon Herriman playing the role of Peter and Greta Scacchi playing the role of Joan.
The film first became available for viewers to stream via the streaming giant Netflix on 28 January 2023, with a run time of 100 minutes. Bonnie Elliott did the brilliant cinematography of the film Run Rabbit Run and XYZ Films with Carver Films undertook the production of the psychological thriller film.

Run Rabbit Run: Ending Explained
The film begins with Sarah, a single mother living with her daughter Mia. Sarah is a gynecologist working at a fertility clinic who is on good terms with Pete, her ex-husband, and Denise, Pete’s new girlfriend. Sarah’s mother, Joan, is committed to a care facility for older people.
Joan wishes to see Mia; meanwhile, Mia receives an older white rabbit as her birthday present. In a fit of rage, Sarah burns the birth card sent by Joan as she doesn’t want Mia to have any relationship with Joan.
Sarah started to struggle with connecting to her roots after Albert, her father, died. And the cause behind the distance between Sarah and her family members is Alice, the missing daughter of Joan and Sarah’s sister. After the rabbit arrives at Sarah’s house, Mia’s behavior starts to change, and strange occurrences start taking place in her house.
Soon Mia begins to call herself Alice, the name of Sarah’s missing sister. Meanwhile, Sarah starts to notice deep wounds on Mia’s head, which harbor a resemblance to her childhood. Joan starts to call Mia Alice after she meets her for the first time at the facility. It is revealed Joan suffers from dementia and is still awaits for Alice to return.
Meanwhile, Mia starts to become more tumultuous with Sarah. Everything takes a dangerous turn when Sarah discovers the strange sketches Mia had been drawing. Sarah can no longer look past Mia’s change of behavior as the drawn sketches are portraits of Mia with the bunny with a black background.
Mia confesses to having a talk with Albert, who promised her his return in pelican’s form to keep an eye on Sarah. Wondering why Mia began to call herself Alice. The connection between the name change lies far beyond the resemblance in Alice’s and Mia’s appearance.
The sinister truth is connected with Sarah’s dark past as she did something heinous to he sister. Sarah takes Mia to their childhood home that was situated on a cliff, and this is where the past is revealed. It gets revealed that the sisters shared a strained relationship, with Alice and Sarah having several fights due to Alice bullying Sarah.
It is revealed that Alice tried to choke Sarah one day while the pair were playing in the garage. This led a defenseless Sarah to grab the nearest object, which turned out to be a rabbit trap, and make Alice’s head. The smack on Alice’s head resulted in severe bleeding. Thus, the connection between strange wounds occurring on Mia’s head is made.
It is revealed that Sarah has been hallucinating Mia’s wounds all along due to the guilt she carries for killing her sister. The flashback further reveals Sarah chasing Alice toward the cliff’s edge before pushing her off the cliff and ending her life.
What Happened To Sarah?
Sarah’s condition deteriorates quickly, with her finding difficulty in identifying the difference between hallucinations and reality. It showcases that Sarah may have mental health issues that she inherited from her parents, but she decides to inform Pete about the change in behavior of Mia.
Sarah makes the decision to sell their childhood home and informs Mia about the move, but Mia is adamant that she doesn’t want to leave the house as she has Alice’s room and wardrobe for herself.
Sarah pays a visit to Joan at the facility, who turns violent after seeing her. Joan states Mia isn’t safe with her, and Sarah returns home following the confrontation. Once home, Sarah realizes that Mia has escaped from the house into the woods, and she brings her back home.
Sarah wakes up from the nightmare of killing her sister with a black crayon in her hand. It is revealed Sarah was the one making the drawing all along behind Mia’s assignment. Sarah and Pete bring Mia back from the cliff’s edge, where she had escaped once again. Sarah wants to confess her crimes to Joan but fails in her attempts after Joan is asleep at the facility while Sarah is visiting.
To get rid of her guilt, Sarah apologizes to Mia and confesses to her guilt while calling her daughter by the name of her deceased sister. The film ends with Mia walking with Alice towards the cliff and Sarah failing to stop her as she couldn’t move.
There are two possibilities at the end of the movie, one being Sarah was mentally ill and hallucinated everything, and the other one being that the rabbit found at the door was possessed by Alice. Till the end of the movie, Sarah hasn’t been able to recover from her past.
