Road Home Episode 9 & 10: Release Date, Recap & Streaming Guide

The release date of the Chinese series Road Home, episodes 9 and 10, has been announced. With the release of its 7th and 8th episodes on March 15, 2023, the series has started picking up the story’s pace. The real story of reconciliation between the lead characters has already begun subtly.

Road Home revolves around two high school lovers – Lu Chen and Gui Xiao, who have always been there for each other through their happy and hard times. Their love kept growing more robust over the years. But when Lu Chen becomes a S.W.A.T. officer, the couple tries to maintain a long-distance relationship. But eventually, they fail to cope with their situation and break up.

After a few years, when Lu Chen gets back to his hometown, however, Gui Xiao and Lu Chen start meeting each other due to different circumstances. The main question is, will their feelings reignite after meeting each other often?

Road Home premiered its first four episodes on March 13, 2023. After its release, the series gained popularity among the Chinese audience due to its dramatic yet beautiful narrative. The viewers are pretty invested in the story and the main characters.

Road Home offers different types of emotions at the same time, which makes its viewers root for the lead couple. While things are still pretty vague, the audience is still eager to see how the story will unfold. They cannot wait for the lead couple to reconcile in the recent episodes.

Road Home Episode 8 Recap

Road Home episode 8 opens with Lu Chen explaining to his squad how he met his first love years ago. The episode takes us to 2016, when Lu Chen saw Gui Xiao for the first time in years while he was on bomb disposal duty.

Lu Chen’s squad informs Lu Chen about a suspicious suitcase in the office building. Lu Chen, being the captain, orders to evacuate the building. They find the bomb and demolish it on-site.

On the other hand, Gui Xiao and her friend gather out of the office premises when Gui Xiao’s friend suggests grabbing something to eat at a popular restaurant nearby.

Back to the present. Lu Chen says that Lu Chen and Gui Xiao had broken up during that time. When one of his squad members asks about what his first love looked like, Lu Chen diverts the topic.

Next, we see Gui Xiao messaging Lu Chen about her appointments on different dates, and she expects to meet him soon. After not getting a response to the messages, she feels sad.

The following day, on turning on his phone, Lu Chen receives all the messages sent by Gui Xiao, which makes him happy. Later, on reaching home, as soon as Lu Chen lies down to rest, his father arrives there and asks him to get married. He further says that he embarrasses him by staying single.

Lu Chen feels frustrated after listening to his father’s nagging and is about to leave when his father reminds him that they still owe money to the Zhaos. Lu Chen assures him that he will pay off the money himself and leaves.

Next, Lu Chen arrives at Ha Dong’s place, asking Ha Dong to let him sleep for some time. He also asks him to get a formal suit for him. Ha Dong suspects that Lu Chen will meet his future father-in-law, which is why he is considering getting suited up.

Later, Lu Chen meets Duan Rou to sign a loan contract. She tells him that she wants to marry him sincerely. But Lu Chen tells her that he never had any feelings for her and leaves.

In the next scene, Lu Chen picks up Gui Xiao and leaves for a meeting with the class adviser. On arriving at the venue, they meet Gui Xiao’s cousin, Wen Cheng, and his wife, Xia Xia, at first. Xia Xia informs them that the class adviser is an old teacher who wants to meet Xiaonan’s parents to know about their kid’s interests personally.

Then, the four of them meet the class adviser and her family. She gives them some homework for Xiaonan for his holidays and appreciates him for giving Xiaonan responsibility to her.

While driving back, Gui Xiao shows Lu Chen all the places she used to visit when she was in high school. She further keeps talking about her childhood experiences with Lu Chen. Ultimately, she asks him whether all these places are unfamiliar to him now. To this, Lu Chen says that it is normal to forget as he has not visited the places since high school.

Lu Chen further says that he visited Beijing only five times after high school while he was in Qinning, so he does not know much about modern Beijing. Later, he tells her that out of those five times, he came to Beijing to meet Gui Xiao.

Gui Xiao argues that Lu Chen only came once. Then Lu Chen reveals that he returned when she wanted to break up with him. This revelation surprises Gui Xiao as well as makes her feel bad.

Later, Lu Chen informs Gui Xiao that the thing concerning Zhao Minshan is now over, which makes her happy. Seeing her happy, Lu Chen leans forward to kiss her, but they get unintentionally interrupted by Wen Cheng.

Next, the four (Lu Chen, Gui Xiao, Wen Cheng, and Xia Xia) arrive at a restaurant to have a meal. After finishing their meal, Lu Chen leaves first and pays the bill. When Gui Xiao gets to know about it from the waiter, she feels bad for him as the meal was quite expensive, but she also feels happy at the same time.

At night, Lu Chen gives Xiaonan the winter vacation homework from the class adviser. Later, Hai Dong and his brother visit Lu Chen. After getting drunk, Hai Dong tells Lu Chen to finish his story with Gui Xiao. But Lu Chen tells him that she broke up with him.

In a flashback, Lu Chen returned to Beijing in the year 2012 after his break up with Gui Xiao. He insisted Gui Xiao meet him but she refused, so he stayed at the train station till dawn and left the city.

Back to the present. Hai Dong is surprised to learn about Lu Chen’s deep feelings for Gui Xiao. He then leaves with his brother as it is getting late.

The next morning, Lu Chen takes Xiaonan to Gui Xiao’s favorite restaurant for a meal. Xiaonan insists on having what she used to like. The owner of the restaurant arrives there and tells him that Lu Chen always used to bring Gui Xiao there when they were students. So, he thought that he might have married her and Xiaonan to be their kid.

Lu Chen feels like contacting Gui Xiao, but he stops himself. But at the same time, he gets a message from Gui Xiao, which makes him happy. The episode ends with Lu Chen and Gui Xiao talking about Xiaonan over messages, which puts a smile on both their faces.
