Released as part of the anime’s seasonal artwork campaign, the new visual continues the franchise’s tradition of celebrating each time of year with cozy illustrations that highlight Rilakkuma’s laid-back lifestyle and everyday charm.

A Summer Visual That Captures Rilakkuma’s Laid-Back Charm

The newly released summer illustration perfectly reflects what fans have come to expect from Rilakkuma. Instead of energetic beach games or busy vacation scenes, the beloved bear is shown relaxing by the pool, embracing the quiet, carefree lifestyle that has defined the character for more than two decades.

Since its debut in 2003, San-X’s Rilakkuma has become known for celebrating relaxation, comfort, and taking life at a slower pace. The new seasonal artwork stays true to that identity, making a peaceful summer pool day a natural fit for the franchise.

The illustration is also part of the anime’s ongoing tradition of releasing seasonal visuals throughout the year. Each new piece of artwork reflects the changing seasons while maintaining the warm and comforting atmosphere that has made Rilakkuma a favorite among fans of all ages.

The Anime Behind the New Artwork

The summer visual accompanies the ongoing Rilakkuma TV anime, which premiered on TBS on April 4 with its opening story arc, Rilakkuma: Relaxing Dream Trip. The series marks Production I.G’s first traditional 2D animated adaptation of the popular character.

Production I.G previously brought Rilakkuma to life through the stop-motion Netflix series Rilakkuma and Kaoru in 2019 and Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure in 2022. The new television anime offers a different visual style while preserving the relaxing tone that fans associate with the franchise.

The series is directed by Yoshimi Itazu and Yumi Kamakura, with character designs by Chie Morita. Music is composed by Kōta Yokoseki, Yoshiya Ikeda, and Mizuki Kanno, while each five-minute episode delivers a lighthearted and easy-to-watch slice-of-life experience.
