Contestants had to compete against one another to win a chance to make their debut on these shows, which is a primary motivation behind them. The first episode was released on the 15th of February, and the latest was released on the 29th of March, 2023. Peak Time is a show with a total of 10 episodes.
Peak Time came with refreshing and delightful segments. Throughout the years, many idol groups have lost their popularity among fans. There are various reasons why a band could lose its notoriety, from prolonged breaks to sudden dissolution, significant changes in the lineup, or merely failing to the pandemic. Yet, just because a group has lost its appeal doesn’t imply its members are prepared to disband.
Their persistence and the urge to prove their worth brought them again into the public eye. But it was totally up to them if they wanted to continue their journey there. All the idols and newcomers compete with each other in a brand-new survival reality show for the opportunity to perform on a stage in a showcase that is airing all around the world.
The contestants have this opportunity to learn from the best while being coached by some of the most remarkable talents in the industry. But they could taste success in securing a seat in the limelight depending on how they put those teachings into practice. And as this is a golden opportunity for former stars, so they need to possess the ability to glow again when contending against newbies eager to seize the stage for themselves.
Peak Time Episode 6 Review
Episode six continued with Combined Unit Match. 1st stage was of Rap Unit, 2nd stage was of Vocal Unit, and 3rd stage was of the Dance Unit. Rap Unit and Team Vocal C from Vocal Unit performed in Episode five.
Vocal A performed on Day 6’s Time of our Life, Vocal B performed on JYP’s Behind You, and Vocal D performed on IU’s My Sea. Vocal D won by scoring 767 out of 800 and earned the advantage of 2% voting.
The next stage was the Highlight battle of the Dance Unit. They were given a choreographing mission. The first stage was the Dance B Team performance on ADR’s Bang By. Dance A performed next on Johnny Stimpson’s Gimme Gimme. Then, Dance C and Dance D performed on Christopher’s Bad and Little Mix’s Power, respectively. Dance C triumphed by earning 789 points out of a possible 800. Moreover, they received 2% of all votes. Their outfits were the main distraction for the audience, or you could say the main attraction.
No doubt, Team Vocal D performed well and deserved to win the stage. Everyone was pleased with Junseong from Team 14:00, who performed in Vocal D for hitting those high notes.
It was a fierce competition between brilliant teams, Rap Units, Vocal Units, and Dance Units. Everybody worked hard to win the contest and show their talents to the world. The winning team receives a 300 million won money prize, an album release, and the opportunity to perform internationally. These aren’t things contestants can achieve overnight. Giving what they have is the only way to succeed.
Several teams other than the winning ones were quite good as well. Team Vocal A was overall good, but it was chaotic, as commented by Jay Park. Team Vocal B did a complete performance.
Team Dance D stood out even when they didn’t win. Their stage was powerful, filled with spirit and energy, and their synchronization was on point and created an impact. Team Dance A and B did well too. Dance B performed like a complete team, and it suited them. There was a significantly slight gap between the Teams at the first position and the one at the last place. But they must work harder to impress the audience and the judges sitting on the panel.
There was also a special panel only for 25 master judges, who sat in a different panel other than the judges’ panel. They were entrusted with picking one MVP from each rap, vocal, and dance unit. And MVP from each team from their group obtained the advantage extra 5% of all votes. For the competitors, MVP has shown to be the most beneficial thing.
There were rarely bad performances because of the extraordinary existed possessed talent that made the Peak Time worth watching. Every group is so good that you will hate to see anybody eliminated from the show. They supported one another while exhibiting mutual respect.
The only thing that confused the audience was the hidden group names. It’s so difficult to remember which member belongs to what group.
Unlike other Korean survival shows, Peak Time chose to develop the skills of former and current idols. Becoming a K-pop musician is challenging because the industry is cutthroat and nasty. And debuting is not the end; they still struggle and work exceedingly or to exhaustion. A formidable and taxing ride it is to be in the idol realm.
Peak Time is doing well both in the home country and internationally but deserves more appreciation so that there will be more seasons for the undervalued artists and groups. They are excellent but are overlooked by others solely because they fail to show solid and savvy support.
Demonstrating the process of the competitors preparing for their stage during rehearsals shows how much hard work the contestants put in. We get to see their bonding with each other, their fun times, and their determination to win no matter what.
It’s so easy to support someone you like by voting for them, increasing their chance to be on the show, and also making them possible to debut.
Our Verdict
People who worked on this idea behind the show deserve appreciation. It’s an incredible concept to give another chance to the idols who have already debuted and those who are finding an opportunity to debut. It’s enabling to see that the show aims to convey the charm, camaraderie, energy, and cohesion of the newly formed team.
All the contenders’ inspirational stories taught all about the value of never giving up on one’s aspirations and being prepared to go above and beyond to make them come true. There may be additional opportunities in life for us to pursue our goals. Life is not about taking one chance at something.
The information and experience the contestants acquired through mentors and one another is something they can never advance. Their guidance and information help to shape them in the best form. They were getting judged with unbiasedness, genuine remarks, and encouraging comments, which improved the idols’ flaws.
The judging panel was full of qualified and contributed to the industry and earned a certain amount of respect from the audience. So, the feedback given is for the betterment of the contestants.
Yet not all judges were impartial; a few of the praises given to the contestants were biased, so the audience thought the judges were unfair and questioned their judgment.
The host of Peak Time, Lee Seung Gi, is one of the most talented artists. The way he carries the show and sometimes advises the contestants as he belongs to the musical field other than acting, and is a wonderful host. He sets the mood of the show and gives off amazing vibes.
The power-packed dance, live soothing vocals, and energetic rap performances will leave you wanting more. The editing was not smooth, but not that bad either. The cutaways to show the reaction of the fellow contenders and the judges were not annoying too.
Episode 6 was phenomenal from beginning to end; it stunned everyone with the jaw-dropping acts. Some performances will remain memorable to all, and many contestants deserve more recognition. And as the first global voting ended and the second started. A new elimination was waiting for them.
If you missed it, then watch it. It is also available on Viki.
