“The Acolyte,” a highly anticipated installment in the “Star Wars” series, has confirmed its debut on Disney+ for June 4. Accompanying the announcement is the revealing of a striking poster for the series.
Featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss, the series promises an enthralling addition to the beloved franchise.
The official logline reveals the premise: “An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg).
As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.” Set during the High Republic era, prior to the events of the “Star Wars” films, the series promises a compelling narrative.
Leslye Headland, the series creator, assumes the roles of showrunner and executive producer. Joining her in the executive producer lineup are Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef.
Additionally, Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana serve as co-executive producers, while Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson take on producer roles.
A source reported the development of “The Acolyte” in 2020, with Lucasfilm officially announcing the project during the annual “Star Wars” Day celebration later that year.”
The Acolyte” joins Disney+’s roster of “Star Wars” content, alongside upcoming series like “Skeleton Crew,” which is still awaiting a premiere date.
The streaming platform boasts a lineup of previously released shows such as “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Andor,” “Ahsoka,” and “The Book of Boba Fett.” Notably, filming for the second season of “Andor” has recently concluded.
Additionally, “The Mandalorian,” a fan-favorite, has aired three seasons thus far, with a movie slated to enter production later this year.
