Caleb Williams will share the league and, potentially, a roster, with Justin Fields. Speculation has run rampant that the Chicago Bears will acquire him. That could be bad news for Williams, one NFL analyst has declared.
On “Get Up,” NFL analyst Dominique Foxworth urged Williams to decline the franchise if selected to replace Fields.
“When a player is as good as Caleb Williams, we can see times in the past like you can go back to John Elway or Eli Manning, where they forced their way to a place where they were more comfortable. And while I know it’s going to rub people the wrong way, there’s nothing more important to a quarterback than where he lands to start his career.”
“It’s going to determine how things go going forward, so I think Caleb Williams will be wise to consider what leverage he has to get to the place where he wants to be… They have a pretty terrible track record of developing quarterbacks there, so it’s worth considering moving to another place.”
Caleb Williams Anticipates The Impending NFL Journey In The Final Months Countdown
The USC prospect has finalized his gridiron resume, awaiting his NFL destination in just under three months. Ahead lie the NFL Combine, interviews, and a potential Pro Day, determining whether it’s the Chicago Bears or another NFL franchise.
Approaching the end of his college journey, the quarterback reflects on a year with the Oklahoma Sooners and two with the USC Trojans, crafting an objectively impressive stat line.
Notably, his yards per attempt improved from 9.1 to 9.4 and his completion percentage rose from 64.5% to 68.6% annually. Yet, a concern surfaces as his touchdown-interception ratio dipped in the final season.
In 2022, Caleb Williams showcased remarkable prowess, throwing 42 touchdowns and just five interceptions across 14 games. However, in 2023, with 30 touchdowns and five interceptions in 12 games, questions arise about defenses catching up to Williams.
This speculation prompts concerns about a potential weakness affecting him in 2025 or 2026.
Despite a promising start in his rookie season, similar to CJ Stroud, there’s a cautionary note that defenses could catch up, leading to a potential rapid rise and fall in Caleb Williams’ career. The unfolding narrative awaits observation.
