After a quick Sneak Peak of what’s to come in the new season back in December, Brett Waterman will be returning with all-new episodes of his show, Restored, this week. Set to begin with an architectural mystery, to say the least, the new season is set to have a great restoration right at the beginning of the show.
Restored was first seen on cable television back on March 30th, 2016. It was released as a single episode which ended up attracting more attention than the creators had hoped. From craftsman’s bungalows to Victorian houses, there’s nothing Brett cannot do when it comes to fixing these homes. Almost all of his work is eye candy without being too over the top or minimal.
The restorations are almost exclusively performed by Brett Waterman, although he calls in his friends for larger projects at times. What makes Brett’s work so different and elegant is the fact that he brings back the charm of these desolate homes without stripping off their history and original design. Even projects that require a modern look are performed based on the kind of home it was to begin with.
Waterman uses every opportunity to bring back the old-school looks of a house with a modern twist. Most of the projects he takes up are houses that were built with a story and character behind them. He sees the hidden potential in each build and brings his vision to life while ensuring his clients like his ideas.
Over the years, Restored has had multiple seasons, although it was halted after 2021. Brett claims that he had been working the whole year to make sure that the 2023 season would finally release successfully on its platform. He hasn’t revealed much about the new season, but we might see iconic projects like Queen Anne Victorians as well as Arts and Crafts homes this season.
Restored: A Recap of Previous Seasons
Most of the recent episodes of Restored were aired back in March of 2021. A single episode was aired on December 27th, 2022, which covered Brett’s work on an 1896 house that was a Queen Anne Victorian. Seeing the episode receive widespread love on all social media platforms, Magnolia Network decided to bring back Waterman’s show for another season.
Projects that we were able to see back in 2021 include a transitional Victorian Arts and Crafts that dated back to 1912. Such projects require much more thought into their redesign since it’s a hybrid of two different styles. Waterman was not only able to restore it to its original glory but also created enough space for a whole new room for the couple’s child.
Another house was the Modern Cali Ranch, which was already having most of its original build intact. Since it didn’t need any redesigning, Brett only updated the house according to modern times. He also works on a ranch from the year 1955, which had beautiful woodwork but lacked functionality. Other examples of builds from previous seasons include an English Cottage, Craftsman Bungalow, as well as an 1899 Queen Anne Victorian.
